Two days passed without great incident unless you count me new grade in french which just happens to be "F" and the date of Natalie and Alan. They had it on the Berlin's Cafe. I think it's boring. I mean, if you really come up with a hot date, who would want to go to some old cafe and discuss football? (Alan's favourite sport and suddenly Natalie knows all about it) I'd rather have it at a sandy beach beside the beautiful blue waves cantering up and down the sea and the morning sunshine streaming onto the glittering water. Oh. I just rembered about Jake. I had planned about our marriage that we'll have it in a church beside the beach. I'd better drop it now before I go back to the flashbacks.

On Thursday, not feeling so high (which I rarely do) because of the first French period, I kicked open the classroom door just as someone gasped with pain when the door hit them with a dull thud.

"Oh", I said utterly startled. "I'm so...."

*SILENCE*

I stopped short as I realised who it was. Jake. The whole class seemed to have postponed their activities and go into the phase of awkward staring. Jake looked up at the sudden silence. I tried to see a colour of recognition in his face but failed vainly. Casting a surly look at me, he darted out of the class before I could think of saying something. Not that I wanted to, I added hastily to myself as I threw over my bag on a chair and ran out of the class too. I took in a deep breath as the smell of morning grass filled up my senses. Just what I needed right now, an awkward meeting with Jake. And then....it started....

*******************************************************

"Hey, beautiful", said Jake as he put an arm around my shoulders. Well it might be stupid of me, as I know I'm not even close to beautiful but whenever Jake calls me that, I feel like the most beautiful girl of the world. Odd.

"Hi", I said as I noticed how perfectly the shade of red colour shirt suited him. But that wasn't surprising. There was nothing in the word that did not suit him.

"The science project is rocking right now, we might even have a chance at that big fair", said Jake to me, referring to a fair being held at our school on the coming Saturday, a competition for all the chosen science projects from 6th grade to 12th grade.

"I'm sure we will", I assured him.

Just then, Arina walked past us giving Jake a big wide toothed smile (I wanted to go and punch all her teeth out of her mouth but I thought better of it).

"She looked great, didn't she?", he asked me absently, staring after her.

I gazed at him unexpectantly. What was that supposed to mean? Was he teasing me or something?

***********************************************************

CRASH!!!!!!!

"Where the heck d'you think you're going!", retorted someone angrily as I opened my eyes fuzzily. I looked up from the ground (on which I seem to get a lot). It was the same lead guy of the group "Cool Jerks" I had mentioned before. For heaven's sake, why can't I ever manage to crash into a girl?

"You too", I mumbled audibly as I got up. At least, he didn't give out his hand.

"Excuse me", he said accusingly. "You bumped right into me!"

"Who would want to bump into you?", I said without thinking.

Uh-oh. He really did seem like someone wanted to bump into him when you take in his dark hair and grey eyes. I'm so stupid!

"Humans", he answered.

"Really, I thought you lived on the moon", I replied as I turned back to head somewhere where it will be more private.

Tears came into my eyes and I shook them away, angrily. The only guy I had fallen for in my entire life was a jerk and didn't care a sniff about me. I shouldn't have expected so much from the start. I was too thick. I sat down on a bench. All those dates seemed to float in front of me. I heard him say gently

"We'll never be parted, beautiful"

A slight pressure on my arm made me look up. I realised my vision was blurry and cleared my eyes in bewilderment. Right, all I wanted now was to have Eric see me crying like a baby.

"Hey, bell rang ages ago", he told me as a big guy caught up with him.

I glanced at the guy, then at him.

"He's uh...", He said "my bodyguard"

Obviously, he was embarrassed.

"He'll come to class with you?", I asked imagining the guy beating Mr. Arnold.

"No, I persuaded him to stay outside", he replied brightly.

"Oh", I said somehow disappointed.

I got up and the three of us quickly went to our class. Before Eric could open the door, I kicked the classroom door open out of habit and then froze as two beetle black eyes penetrated me to the last particle.

Mr. Arnold was standing right in front of us.

"What a day", I said to Natalie that day, writing lines in the class been given by Mr. Arnold worth of half hour shouting. Eric was saved due to his "new coming" thing.

"It'll get better", she said sympathetically looking outside over Jake who was twiddling the hair of his girlfriend on his fingers.

"I doubt", I said as I took in the scene.

The bodyguard of Eric attracted pretty funny glances that day and with a plead of not leaving him alone, Natalie and I accompanied him (him and his big companion, I mean).

He told us about his father's business and him being in danger due to their continuously expanding business during gym period. But just as he was saying this, my mind was wandering somewhere else as I was staring at Jake. I wished I could go right to him and slap him hard on the face. But that wouldn't help the fact that I loved him, I thought bitterly, loved him so much.

I wondered where life of mine was leading as I saw him kiss his girlfriend.
