“Hey Dad!” I cried as I ran up to hug him.
I heard him chuckle softly and he hugged me back. “I see you’ve already packed up well.” He said, grinning at me.
I smiled back at him and nodded my head. “Yup. Well, I have to go or I’ll be later than I already am.” I told him, giving him another squeeze as I picked my sports bag.
“Bye honey! Rock their socks off!” He shouted as I walked towards the door.
“Bye Dad!” I said smiling weakly as I waved to him.

I opened the front door and let myself out. From the front steps of my house, I could see the bus waiting for me. I suppressed a shudder that ran through my entire body and closed the front door, locking it with my keys. I placed the keys into my pocket and walked towards the bus. I kept my head low as I stepped into the bus. I paid the bus driver and took a brief glance at the entire bus. Instead of being extremely packed, it was rather....empty. I let out a sigh of relief and sat down at the five row, next to the window. I placed my sports bag on the floor and my other bag on the empty seat next to me. I heard the bus door shut and felt the bus jerk to a start. I was still tired for some weird reason, and I wanted to get as much sleep as possible before I arrived at school. I knew that the school was an hour away from my house and we had stops in between so I had extra fifteen minutes of sleep. I rested my head against the window glass and closed my eyes.

My eyes flew open as I felt someone tap my shoulder. I was a light sleeper, so it was really easy to wake me up. My eyes opened even wider when I saw who was waking me up. He was so terribly handsome. He was dark haired just like me, and he looked quite muscular, but not in the body builder way. I could see his biceps and he had deep blue eyes. His face was angular and I could see his cheekbones slightly. His mouth formed a sheepish grin.

“Ah, the Sleeping Beauty awakes. Lucky for me, my shoulder was starting to hurt.” He said, grinning crookedly at me as he stood up. He picked my sports bag up and slung his backpack over his shoulders. “For a girl, you have so little things. You should see the girls that come here. The bus is usually packed with bags because of them. “ He added casually. All I could do was sit and stare at him. How did I, Shaia Corvington manage to actually even meet such a cute, hot guy?

“Um....Sorry.” I said after a pause. When he looked confused, I added, “About your shoulder I mean”. I didn’t want him to think that I was mentally retarded.
“Nah, its alright. I was just kidding.” He said. “So, are you coming? The bus is empty, except for the both of us of course.
“Oh, right. Yeah.” I realized, quickly scrambling to my feet.

I slung my other bag over my shoulder and followed him out of the bus. I heard the bus doors close as soon as my feet touched the ground. I guessed the driver must’ve been a little pissed off. I thought to myself. I realized that I must look like a terrible mess but I shook the thought off.

“I’m Demetry by the way.” He said, smiling as he revealed a set of perfectly straight white teeth.
“I’m Shaia.” I said, not looking him in the eye. I think that I would probably melt right on the spot if I did.
“Pleasure Shaia. Unique name.” He said as he turned and walked towards the building.

I hurried and followed him, noticing that he was still carrying my sports bag. Once we reached the front door, I heard shouts. “Oh my gosh! Demetry! You’re back!” I heard a girl scream loudly as she ran towards our direction. “Hey man!” I heard a burly looking guy say as he walked past me and Demetry. Oh great, just what I need. Attention to myself. I paused for a second and I thought. Well, if he’s busy, I’m sure it would be so much easier for me to get away. I stopped to a halt and called out his name softly.

     “Demetry.”
“Yes?” He said as he turned around to face me.
“Well, since you have company, I guess I’ll see you some other time.” I said, reaching to take my bag from his hand. He seemed thrown off but he handed me my bag anyway.
“Sure. Maybe at the Welcome Back Dance tonight then.” He said hopefully.
“Maybe.” I said, giving him a small smile as I turned around.

I’d walked the same corridor twice and I still couldn’t find my dorm. It was getting rather frustrating. Finally, I walked back to the Student Reception. I supposed that I could find help there.

“Excuse me? Could you please tell me where I can find the Petra Dorm?” I asked an young looking lady who was sipping her coffee behind the counter.
“Welcome my dear! I’m sure you’re new, aren’t you? Seniors definitely wouldn’t be asking where their dorms are. I’m Ms. Michilka. But you can call me Ms Mitch.” She said, smiling kindly at me.
I felt a blush creep up my cheeks and I smiled at her. “Yeah, I am. So...About the dorm?” I asked, hoping she’d drop the subject about me being the new girl.
“Oh fantastic! We haven’t had a new student in two years! It was all because that girl and that boy disap-“ she stopped halfway and then looked at me, smiling sheepishly. “Oops, sorry. Not supposed to be saying anything about that. Yes, about your dorm. Just go straight to the end, go one floor up using the elevator then as you come on, turn left. Left is for senior girls and right is for juniors. Do you know your room number?” She asked, looking at me.
I’d heard what she’d say about the dead student and that stumped me. My parents sent me to a school that had a DEATH? And what’s worse was the student was FOUND DEAD! I shrugged the worried thought off and continued to smile. “Um, no. Do we have room numbers? I thought we all just slept in one big dorm.” I said, feeling confused. That was I’d expected.
Ms. Mitch looked horrified then she started laughing. Why is she laughing? It’s not funny! I thought to myself. “Sweetie, if we put all the teenagers in a dorm, we wouldn’t be called the most posh school in the country now would we? Yes we have room numbers. Can I have your name so I can check the system for your room number?” She asked, as she started to type something in the computer.
“Err. No, I guess not.” I said unsurely. “It’s Shaia Melissa Corvington.” I told her.
Her hands froze at the keyboard and she turned her face up to look at me with a funny look. “As in Corvington as in King of England’s son Corvington?” She asked incredulously.
     “Em...Yeah.” I said after a pause.
“Ah, must tell him.” She muttered softly just above a whisper to herself. “Even better! We have a young royalty in the school.” She said to me, smiling brightly.
“About that. Please, please don’t tell anyone that. PLEASE.” I said, almost begging her.
“Don’t worry dear.” She said, as she made a gesture of zipping her mouth, locking it and throwing the key away.
I smiled weakly at her. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome. And, your room number is.... 221.” She said finally, looking up at me.
“221.” I muttered to myself, trying to remember. “Okay, thank you.” I said as I walked off.
Ms. Mitch just smiled at me kindly and turned her attention back to the computer.

I followed the directions exactly like she’d told me and I was glad I got there. Luckily I already had my timetable so I wouldn’t have to go back to the Student Reception to get it. Ms. Mitch was nice, but she kinda freaked me out. She talked too much and revealed weird information. I opened the big door that led to the Senior Girls Dorm. It creaked open loudly and I saw that the dorm was immensely huge. Instead of a long row of rooms, there was a huge lounge area. There was a fireplace on the right side, and plenty of chairs, sofas and tables scattered around. There were two three bookshelfs against the walls, and not far from there were two rows of computers. There were twelve computers in each row. I gasped in amazement. It was really so grand. Even with all the stuff, the place still looked so spacious.

Because I was too busy staring at things, I bumped hard into someone. I heard a thud and looked down, realizing that I’d knocked her to the ground. Crap, I thought in my head, cursing silently.

“I’m sorry. Here, let me help you up.” I said, putting my hand out for her to grab.
The girl looked up at me sharply, her eyes glaring angrily. At that moment, I realized that the whole room was totally silent. “I don’t need your help.” She snapped angrily, slapping my hand away as she got up herself.
I was taken aback but I kept my mouth shut.
“It’s you who needs some help. Go get an eye check up before you knocked more people. Now get out of my way.” She said, pushing me aside harshly.

I staggered side ways but didn’t fall. I heard the door slam loudly behind me and then whispers started. “Must be the new girl...” “Look at her. She’s not our type...” “She’s pretty though....” “Did you see Jennifer’s face? She was absolutely mad!” I ignored them and gripped both my bags tightly. I walked through the lounge, keeping my head down as I did. I opened a smaller door than the one at the entrance of the dorm and shut it behind me. Once I knew that no one could see me, I ran as fast as I could. As I ran, I glanced at the numbers written on the door. 201, 203 , 205, 207 , 209 , 211, 213, 215, 217, 219, 221.... I stopped at the door of number 221, panting slightly. There it was finally. My room. I turned the knob and pushed the door open. I heard a soft shriek and my head popped inside, wondering whom it was. It was a girl. She was small, petite looking. She had light brown hair and fair skinned.

“Oh.My.Gosh. You scared the bejeebeers out of me!” She said, as she started to laugh.
“Sorry.” I said as I let myself in and close the door behind me.
“I’m Ashley. Ashley Sparks.” She introduced herself, grinning at me.
“Shaia.” I told her, giving a small smile.
“Well, come on! Don’t just stand there! We’ve got to get to class by 10am. They gave a grace period of one hour every start of a new term.” She told, coming over to me. She took my sports bag easily from my hand and put it on a clean, white bed.
“This is your bed,” She said, pointing to the white clean bed. “And this, is my bed.” She said, pointing to the bed that was covered in a laced edge purple blanket.
“Thanks.” I said to her as I put my other stuff onto my bed.

The room was very spacious. There were twos of everything. Two closets, two queen sized beds, two wooden desks and chairs, two standing lamps, a table lamp on each desk, two end tables beside each bed, one lamp on each side table, and two bathrooms. The bathrooms were located at the end of the room and they were beside each other. It was like the room was split into half by a mirror. It was way cool. Sighing, I picked both my bags up and walked towards the huge closet. I opened the closet and set my bags down. There were already tons of hangers inside so I needn’t worry. I begin unpacking all my clothes and the rest of my stuff. Finally after fifteen minutes, I finished. All my clothes were neatly hanged up and my shoes were placed at the bottom of the closet. There was still plenty of space. I’d only occupied like quarter of the closet. I shrugged and took out my books from the bag. I placed all of them on the desk then put my two bags into the closet.

“That’s quite... Little stuff you’ve got there.” She commented, smiling sheepishly at me.
“ So I’ve been told.” I replied, smiling back at her. “I’m sure we have lockers, right?” I asked, just wanting to be sure.
“Sure we do. I’ll help carry your stuff down. I’ve already got all of mine in the locker.” She said, coming over to help me. “Came early,” She said, when she saw me raising my eyebrows.
“I see.” I said, keeping the smile on my face.
