"Zoeyy, I really don't think this is your brightest idea." Lexi had that expression on her face like we were about to come face to face with the black plague. I sighed and laughed at her.
"Seriously Lex, how much could go wrong? Chase and I are just going to a cabin for the weekend." Lexi smacked me in the back of the head. God she worries too much.
"Yeah. Alone! I understand you like him and all but seriously, how long have you been with him? Like a month. You shouldn't be going anywhere with him, at least not alone! Come on Zoe! I'm sorry but Chase is nothing but bad news."
"Ugh. I will be just fine! Chase is a nice guy. You just don't understand him, really he's…" my voice trailed off as Chase walked towards us. He's like a total god, and of course your stereotypical bad boy. I could hear Lexi going on and on about how stupid I was being, but really all I was hearing was babbling, I was far too distracted by him to care. Chase stopped in front of me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Hey gorgeous, I missed you." He flashed that killer smile, and flipped his blonde hair out of his bright green eyes. He kissed me on the cheek and ran his fingers through my long blonde curls, I felt my cheeks turn bright red.
"I missed you too." I said quietly. I'm far too shy for my own good. Chase looked to Lexi and gave her a smaller smile,
"Hey Lexi." I could just feel the hatred radiating off her, even with her standing a little behind me.
"Chase. Zoeyy, I'm going to class. Would you just think about what I said? Please?" She walked off, well, more like stormed off, leaving me with Chase.
"Um, think about what?" Chase asked smirking a little. He always got a kick out of Lexi's hatred for him.
"Oh nothing, she thinks I'm being stupid going to the cabin with you. She thinks you're going to hurt me or something. Who knows? She can be a little dramatic. But that's just Lexi." I laughed a little, and started walking towards the gymnasium, pulling him along behind me.
By the time ninth period hit, I was bored out of my mind. I literally stared at the clock just waiting for the forty-five minutes to end so I could go see Chase. Lexi sat two seats over from me, and literally all day she hadn't said a thing to me when normally she will. I could tell she was mad. It was written all over her face. Of course, I didn't let it get to me. This girl was like 24/7 PMS. She had the worst mood swings. She'd be fine soon enough.
I was still staring at the clock, attempting to will time to go faster in my head. Yeah, that wasn't working. I sighed. Twenty more minutes to go. I jumped when the girl next to me tapped on my shoulder. She handed me a note and I looked up at Lexi. She just gave me a look and turned back to taking notes.
Sorry, but there's no way I can cover for you this weekend. I'm not gonna tell your mom what's going on, but don't tell her you're staying at my place. Normally I'd cover for you, but you're being beyond stupid. I really hope you come to your senses before this weekend.
I glared at the piece of paper in my hands. How could she do this? Best friend my ass. I crinkled the paper up in my hands and threw it in the garbage can a few feet in front of me. What a bitch. She looked back over at me with an apologetic look on her face; of course I recognized it as the fake one she always gave people when she really didn't give a shit. I smiled at her sarcastically and ever so politely gave her the finger. She rolled her eyes, and looked away.
Finally the bell rang and I jumped out of my seat.
"Not so fast, Mrs. Hudson. Can I speak to you for a moment?" The teacher flashed me a smile, and I knew this couldn't be good.
"Yes, Mrs. Gray?" I asked with as much politeness in my voice as possible.
"Well, Zoeyy, you've always been one of my top students. Your grade typically stays in the high nineties…" She walked around and leaned on the edge of her desk next to me, holding my most recent essay in her hand, with a nice red 65 printed across the top. Lovely. "But lately, like this past month, your grades have been slipping. I mean a 65? Zoeyy, this just isn't like you. Is there something going on? If there is, let me know, I'll give you some extra time for your assignments, and you can always talk to the guidance counselor." Mrs. Gray was by far one of the sweetest teachers you could get. Literally everyone loved her. She would always flip her brown hair into her face, giggle a little and blush when the students talked about how much they adored her teaching.
"Mrs. Gray, I'm doing fine. I don't need to see the counselor. I'm just a little stressed coming so close to finals and all. I understand they're a month away, but studying has me a little busy. I'm really sorry. Would you like me to redo the essay?" I really didn't feel like writing an essay, but I like Pearl Harbor, and that's what the essay was on. Mrs. Gray gave me a small smile.
"If you wouldn't mind, that'd be great; though I will have to take five points off for it being late." I smiled understandingly.
"That's alright; I'll have it to you by Friday." She thanked me and I walked out to go meet Chase.
My locker wasn't too far from the class, and that's where Chase had agreed to meet me. I saw him leaning up against my locker, one ankle crossed in front of the other and his arms folded over his chest. He was staring down at the floor. I smiled and ran up to him.
"Hey babe." I said, going to give him a hug; and he promptly put his hand in my face.
"Where were you?" He asked his hand still right in my eyes. I glared at his hand and pushed it down.
"I was talking to Mrs. Gray. And keep your hand out of my face, thanks." I turned away from him, and began putting the combination into my locker. I really like the guy and everything, but he can be such an ass.
"Alright, sorry babe." He had an apologetic look in his eyes. I smiled at him and gave him a hug.
"It's cool. So are we still hanging out tonight?" I asked referring to his plans to take me out to dinner and a movie. He gave me a look and my heart just dropped. He always does this. He'll offer to take me out and then, boom; he drops the plans just like that. And I already knew why before he even said it. "Why not?" I asked before he even said no.
"I have to go to Jerome's tonight." Which translated means, I have to go get drunk and do other stupid shit. I glared at him, and with that, Jerome walked up behind him.
"Hey hey, pretty lady, aren't you just lookin' fine today." He walked up next to me and smacked my ass. Not ok.
"Get the fuck off me asshole." Of course, Chase didn't bother to stand up for me.
"Ooo, Chase, way to pick a feisty one!" I rolled my eyes and began to walk away. I stopped in front of Chase. I was beyond pissed.
"Well, I had so much fun on our date. Later." With that I stormed off. I could hear Chase swearing behind me, but I didn't care how guilty he felt.
