It was pitch black in the dark living room, but Lyric could make out the red liquid on the floor. Lyric looked down at the blood rushing from her mother's throat and sank to the floor. This can't be real.
"It is more than real," the unfamiliar male said. Lyric looked up at him, shocked so far beyond belief that only one tear slid from her eye.
"You killed my mother, you - you killed my mother," Lyric hung on to the only thing keeping her from insanity. The man crouched down in front of her so that he was eye level.
He put a finger under her chin and lifted her head up, "I did," he laughed in her face, "Lyric Mullins, you are now mine." He put an arm around her back and under her knees and lifted her cradle style. Lyric looked back at the twisted, bloody, still dead body of her mom. Another tear silently slid down her face.
She didn't know who this man was, or where they were going. But for some odd reason, she wasn't scared. As he carried her from the house, all she could think about was how she felt inhuman because she wasn't in the least bit mad at the stranger.
Lyric woke up in an unknown bed. She stretched her achy muscles and threw the blankets back. The intensely cold a/c rushed over her pale freckled skin.
"Hey! That's fucking cold! Pull the blankets back up!" A man's voice said, startling her to jump straight out of the bed. Lyric landed on the floor with a loud thud.
"Ouch, my ass," she murmured. A god-like face peeked over the edge of the bed and burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Nice! I bet that didn't feel to go," he laughed even louder.
"No, it really didn't," Lyric lost herself in his deep chocolate brown eyes. His stick straight platinum blonde hair fell into his face. Lyric brushed a strand of onyx hair out of her own face.
The strange man stood from the bed and helped her up to her feet. Her 5'10" wasn't anywhere close to his near 6'2", she looked at him. He was wearing superman sleep pants, showing off his whole physique. His build was that of an 8th grade boy on the football team. Not much ab, but still a slight six pack. And thin shoulders, nowhere near orgasmic. She lost herself as she focused her bright blue eyes on his body.
"Am I interesting you?" He laughed a little. Lyric looked up, her face blushing so deeply that her freckles were darkening.
Maybe just a little.
"Oh really?" He said with a bit of playfulness.
"What?" She questions seriously
"Maybe just a little?"
What the fuck? How did he know?
"That's easy," he said.
"How I know," he stated simply.
"How do you know?" Lyric questioned, giving up the stupid girl façade. It obviously wasn't working on him.
"I can read your mind… I'm sorda kinda a vampire," he said it like it wasn't even a big deal. Lyric jumped back several feet and bumped into a wall really hard, knocking her head.
Vampire. Deep voice. Vampire means fangs. Puncture holes. Dead mom. MOTHERFUCKER!! Lyric remembered the whole scene when she found her mother. How the unfamiliar male with the deep voice had called her his. "You're mine Lyric Mullins." Then, she sank to the ground with self hate. She still wasn't even mad at him. Even though he had killed her mother. She, she didn't know how she felt. She just, blanked on the emotion scale.
"Lyric are you okay? Lyric? Hellooo?" he waved a hand in front of her face.
"Huh?" she blanked on the words as well. He picked her up once again. But she shoved him away, then the words finally hit her as he stumbled back a few steps, "You killed my mom, you killed my mom," she slid down the wall once again, continuing to murmur "You killed my mom."
The man stepped forward again and picked her up - once again , "Do you not know how to stand up?" He was starting to get annoyed, the emotion swirling in his brown eyes.
Lyric fell forward into his chest. Tears leaking from her eyes, "I'ma terrible person!" she screamed into his bare chest.
"No you're not," he stroked the back of her head, obviously trying to console her.
"Why do you think that?" he tilted her chin up so that she looked him in the eye.
"Because you killed my mom… And I'm not even mad at you for it. I should be pissed! I should be trying to drive a stake through your heart, and yet. Here I am, crying to you! Telling you all my problems! What the fuck is wrong with me!?" She screamed to him.
"I knew you didn't like her. And I really wasn't trying to kill her. Just make her pass out so I could take you away, I've been watching you for a long time now. I know almost everything about you. And I know what you wanted. You wanted to be taken away, you wanted someone to come in and just take you," he breathed into her hair. Caramel washed over her. Goddamn he smells so good, she thought.
He was right. In some weird twisted way, she had wanted to be stolen away from her mother. As much as she loved the woman, that woman was an abusive, alcoholic, slut who didn't give two shits about her only child. And she was glad it was someone like him. He was beautiful, and he seemed to be somewhat nice at least. And sense like her he wasn't human, she could read the emotions in his eyes. Yeah that's right, she wasn't human, well, she was half-human anyway. Lyric was half angel. Her father was an angel that the goddess Luna sent to her mother, who back then was a decent woman, to mate with. The goddess was a creator. And Lyric was not the only half. There were others. But she was the only daughter of Christian the Emotion Angel of Luna the Creator Goddess. Ofcourse he had sons, but she was the only girl born to him. That is why she lacked full emotion and could read others.
"What's your name?" she asked naïvely.
"My name is Roderick," he looked at her seriously. Lyric tried to stifle a giggle with a cough but then she lost is and nearly fell over laughing, "What!?" He demanded of her.
"Roderick!!! Who- names- their- child- Roderick!!?" She gasped between giggles.
Erick's eyes swam with self-consciousness, "It was a very popular name back then," he whispered.
"In 1782," he smiled crookedly at her.
Lyric quickly did the math. 2012 - 1782 = OMFG!! "You're 230 years old!!" She exclaimed.
"Noo! Jesus only 229, my 230th birthday isn't for like 2 more months," he rolled his eyes at her as if it was unbelievable that she thought he was 230 years old. She looked at him with annoyed eyes.
"I don't think I like the sarcasm," she said playfully to him. She wiped away her tears, "So how do you expect people won't come looking for me?"
"I put a corpse in there and set the house on fire. The corpse has been dead for several years and now the bones have been scorched so badly that they can no longer pull DNA off of them," he said simply.
"Wait wait wait. You dug up some unknown bones, and put them in my house to make people think that I was burned alive along with my mother," she said as if it was hard to believe coming from the man that stole her straight from her own house.
"Not unknown… They were my grandmothers." He smiled at her.
"Like that's any better," she scowled at him.
A/N: I know this is kinda short and Im workin' really hard on this.... Anyway please like and comment what you think. Do you like Erick or no?
