My eyes flickered open and everything was quiet. It felt sort of chilly and my pillow felt like unusual rock. Then I remembered what happened with Jordan and I wondered when exactly I had fallen asleep. Wait, my pillow felt like rock? I looked down where my hand was and noticed that there was a hand holding it. I gasped a little and looked up to see Jordan lying motionless with a smile on his face, dangerously close. His smile was hypnotizing and warm. Unable to help myself, with my free hand I ran two of my fingers delicately against his pale plush lips. They were softer than I had even earlier thought now that they were to the touch. I was shocked when his hand came fast, his hand encircling my wrist and kissing the fingers up on his lips. Butterflies erupted in my stomach and swarmed. I couldn't get them to calm down and my face flushed. He let my wrist go and I pulled it back, tempted to try and hide my face but then it would be an even more embarressing attempt seeing as he was still holding my other hand.
"I didn't know you were awake" I said, my voice coming out squeaky and nervous. He chuckled and I felt his chest vibrating from under me. I couldn't help but smile under all my embarressment at this.
"Vampire's don't sleep" he said like it was obvious and it was if you were a Twilight fan, which I was. So I felt like I had shamed the Twilight name to not remember.
"Oh yeah" I said, the blush still immenent in my cheeks. His eyes were open now. I sat up, looking anywhere but at him but that didn't work very well seeing as the moment I did, he pulled me down landing me on top of him. I found myself staring into his eyes again.
"Where do you think you're going?" He whispered. My breath caught in my throught at the proximity of our closeness. Breaking the moment, the door opened and I heard a gasp. Then a giggle. My head turned, my eyes landing on a Aunt Erin standing in the doorway. I turned redder than a cherry and scrambled off of him, brushing myself off and smoothing down my hair. I knew how it must have looked and that was embarressing enough but to be caught in that position by my aunt? Now that was strait unlucky. I couldn't believe it was nine already! Jordan got off the bed looking smooth and polished as usual. Collected.
"Lady Erin, it's nice to see you but you know I shouldn't bee seeing you" he said, polite as always. She grinned.
"Always good to see you too Jordan though I didn't know that the first time I've seen you in about eighteen years, it would be seducing my niece" she said laughing. He looked embarressed and I was glad that I wasn't the only one.
"I was just doing my job" he said and even though he couldn't blush, I was sure I could hear it in his voice.
"Oh and what might that be?" She asked, smug.
"Watching over her" he said, slightly defensive.
"You were watching her alright" she said in a voice that would get a fight out of the most peaceful of passivists. It made me wonder if it might have been more her fault that she was kicked out than I realized. I could see Jordan was about to retaliate.
"You wanna give us a bit?" I asked him before he got a chance.
"Of course" he said, his face softening noticably before he whisked out of the room. "Sorry, did I ruin the moment?" Erin asked, biting her lip.
"What moment?" I asked, nonchalant as I could possibly get. She raised an eyebrow, which reminded me of Lily.
"Right...anyway, I heard what happened at the bakery. That guy's always been shifty. No one's ever known much about him. Are you ok?" She asked, sitting down on my bed.
"Yeah, I'm fine now" I said, smiling sincerely. I honestly felt a lot better.
"And, I heard what else had happened to you" she said with concern shining through her eyes. I stared at her, confused for a moment when it clicked. I scowled. Was Lily going to tell the whole fricken vampire community or what?
"I'm fine" I repeated, irritated. "I told your parents not to send you there" she said, shaking her head. I was silent and only looked out the window.
"You know, I'm three years older than your mother" she said randomly. My eyes snapped back to look at her curiously.
"But, she looks two or three years older than you" I said. She laughed.
"That's because I was turned five years before her" she explained.
"Wait, I thought mom was an original" I said.
"Oh heavens no dear, your dad was an original sure, but she was a human born. Stayed human until she met your dad at age twenty. Already a fine king, he was. So even though I look eighteen, I'll always be three years older than her on the inside" she said, dreaming. Of another life far from this one.
"When were you born Aunt Erin?" I asked, sitting down next to her.
"1364" she said, grinning. "Woah" was all I could say. That was really old.
"Yes, I know I'm old but on the bright side, I've acomplished what old people around earth have been trying to do for centuries" she said.
"What?" I asked, cocking my head to the side slightly.
"Being as old as I am and looking the way I use to in my youth" she said, her fangs glinting off the stone glass window. I grinned, not knowing how anyone could stay mad at her for too long. She just had an amazing personality that made you want to be around her. I still couldn't help but wonder about something.
"You're probably wondering about my mate right?" She asked, practically reading my mind. I nodded.
"He's in Balmi fighting for ghost rights" she said proudly.
"What's Balmi?" I asked. "It's the ghost realm" she explained. Oh.
"Why does he have to fight for their rights? Everyone seems pretty free around here" I asked.
"Here perhaps, but the ghosts are treated worse by all the other nations. The worst off are sold to buyers from Valgarsi and Lidea, the demon realm. The elf and angel realms, Martane and as cliche as ever Heaven, don't bother to buy. The angels are too nice and the elves are too proud to let others do their work for them. The ghosts are treated like the chop liver of the nations because they are only dead humans as some would say. They never consider how extraordinary they are" she said, sounding like a heavy activist.
"Wow, that's aweful" I said, thinking of the slavery plantations back on earth a while ago. "Very" She said in agreement, but her voice told me that it was probably much worse than I could imagine.
"So dear, enough about my life, what about yours?" She asked, leaning forward eager and hopeful. For what, I did not know, maybe to hear that maybe it wasn't as bad as she feared. I wasn't sure if I could deliver on that hope. Just when I was about to say something. The door swung open. There Lily said, looking nervous. I looked at her suspiciously. That was the face she always had when she realized she had made a terrible mistake.
"Mom and Dad want to see you" she said, her voice thick with worry. I gulped. This can't be good.
