"Of course" Darius said, backing away with a bow. I turned around, smiling and was prepared to hug the living day lights out of him but what I saw made me screech to a stop in my tracks. It was still him, that was for sure. I'd recognize those eyes anywhere. He looked more handsome than all the other guys put together. He had on a black vest like the rest of them as well as the rest of them as well as an unbottoned under shirt except it was silk and it was a matching red to my dress. His hair was more spiky than usual and the tips were died coal black. His hands were dug slightly in his black pants pockets finishing off the smooth and polished look with just a hint of yummy ruggedness. That was only half of what was stopping me though. There was a warm glow around him that I could see. It was flowing all around him and I could feel it. It felt familiar like it had always been there but I had just never seen it. It was like it was drawing me to him and the power of it's affects excited me but it frightened me as well. He smiled and I just about fainted.
"Hey, where's my hug?" He asked pouting with the cutest puppy dog eyes. That caused me to giggle and throw my arms around his neck. He laughed and brought his arms around my waist, lifting me off the ground a little, squeezing me so tightly. I was caught off guard by how wonderful and free I felt in his arms. A warmth spread through my body and I was numb to everything but him. Even the cold of the skin on his neck felt comforting. Everything around us, I lost focus on as his smell of rain and cinnamon fogged up my mind once again until I couldn't think about anything else. I burried my face in his shoulded, inhaling deeply. He let me down again and stared into my own with his eyes a softer green than I could have imagined. He guided my floating form effortlessly to the middle of the ball room floor. I expected his hands to go to my waist like the others but instead, his arms encircled my waist and brought me closer to him. So close infact that you couldn't slide a piece of paper between us. This gesture was among the many things that set him apart from the others which I loved. I smiled, snaking my arms around his neck. I knew we were dancing now but I could hardly feel anything let alone my feet. I couldn't look anywhere but at him and even if I could, I wouldn't have. Trying not to seem any more like a freak, I tried talking.
"Thanks for saving me from well everything" I said, laughing a little. He chuckled softly and I blushed a little at the butterflies that flew through my stomach. "Yeah well it looks like you were getting a bit bored" he said, grinning like a cheshire cat.
"You seem a little too happy about that when this morning, you didn't seem too happy at all" I said smirking. He shrugged a little.
"Maybe I just wanted you all to myself" he said, flashing me another heart stopping grin. I blushed and wanted to hide it but I couldn't look away.
"I don't know why. I'm not a very good dancer" I said lamely. Man, I really suck at talking to guys but talking to him brought me to a completely different level of suckiness.
"Why wouldn't I when you look so beautiful?" He asked with the most charming lopsided smile. A shy smile made it's way on my face.
"I'm sure you'd say that to any girl" I said, my eyes searching his. I could never reach the bottom of those green depths.
"Never" he said, his voice like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. I was speechless so I just danced. It was so entrancing. The way he danced, I felt safe and unbreakable in his arms. He spun me out but no one took me from him which I was glad because I wouldn't have went anyway. When he spun me back to him, my hands landed on the little of his chest exposed and I blushed at the proximity of our closeness. We stopped dancing with his arms once again around my waist and mine on his chest, tracing the very top of his pecks. I looked up and he was so close to my face that I thought I would fall any second now. My eyes traveled to his lips and they never looked more appetizing. Just then someone tapped me on my shoulder. I didn't feel it at first but then they tapped a little harder and I did. Whoever was ruining the moment was going to die. I ignored it but then someone grabbed my arm and with the strength of an obvious vampire pulled me away and dragged me over to the punch table while I stared longingly at where Jordan stood, waving lightly with a dreamy smile on his face. It made me want to go back to him so badly. I stung all over where I missed his warmth. I turned to glare at the person to find that it was a grinning Lily. My glare disappeared but I still felt the need to get back to Jordan but she wasn't letting go so even though I knew it was futile, I tried yanking my arm away from her tight grasp. To my suprise, I pried my arm through her fingers on the first try, causing them to crack. I gasped as she clutched her hand.
"Oh I'm so sorry Lily! I didn't expect it to work!" I exclaimed. She just smiled, flexing them.
"It's ok, you just cracked them girl" she said, laughing.
"Anyway, forget about it! What I'm more upset about is how you didn't tell your own sister that you found your soul mate!" She exclaimed. I raised a confused eyebrow. Her eyes widened.
"You still haven't figured it out?!" She exclaimed, shocked. I felt embarressed of my obvious obliviousness.
"Ugh no" I said meekly.
"How about the guy I had to practically pry you away from?!" She said, exasperated. My eyes widened.
"Jordan?!" She laughed.
"Yes Jordan! I can't believe I didn't see it before!" She said, smacking herself in the head.
"How do you know?" I asked, still confused and overwhelmed.
"Ok hun, listen to me. This ball, it's for you to find your soul mate and this kind of ball always has a special charm on it when there's a human involved because they can't tell as easily. The spell, it manifests the mental connection two soul mates have into a physical one so you can tell the difference easier! That's why you had that sudden burst of strength all of a sudden. You tapped into his. And that's why you can see that" she said smirking, gesturing in his direction. I turned to look at him still standing there and caught him staring at me. My jaw dropped as I saw what I thought I was only imagining. There, though it was faint, I could see a small blush in his cheeks.
"Holy crap"
