Over the next week, I kept my distance from Jordan. Mostly I hung out with Elleanora in less obvious rooms. I found out a lot of things like how her mother was the cook in our castle kitchen. She prepared all the meals for everything. Apparently she had a brother who lived back in their home land, raising the farm her and her mother had to leave behind. He was among the few free ghosts because men were hardly ever slaves. Also, she had a crush on Nadine which kind of freaked the hell out of me. Not because of her being a lesbian part or anything, it's just that Nadine seemed a little evil and Elleanora seemed really anything but. Maybe crazy but certainly not evil. I was able to keep myself entertained and her and I got along really well. We had a lotin common and she was someone I could definitely see being best friends with. It isn't something that would be too fun to hear about seeing as it was normally the same thing everyday. Still, I felt down hearted every day from the lack of Jordan in my life. I knew he was looking for me. Leo told me. That was why I didn't hang out with him too much. He seemed to hand out with Jordan a little too much for comfort. Some of the servants told me. Lily told me just earlier today in the hall and she looked a little guilty about it too which made me a little nervous. I had gotten dressed in something casual. Just a black tank top and some jeans with of course a yellow robe that I would later take off because it was kind of heavy after a while. I had went to the green room for awhile, risking the posibility of being caught by Jordan just to see the lovely flowers again. Luckily for me, he wasn't there. After a while, I went back to my room and saw a note by the flowers Elleanora had brought me.
Dear Violet,
When you get this, come down to the tv room so we can hang out.
Elleanora
I shrugged. This was where we usually hung out, I just didn't know we were going to hang out. It didn't matter though, I didn't have anything else to do anyway. The tv room was just a few halls down and I was there in no time. I opened the door, smiling. Happy that I was going to see my friend again. She was the only thing keeping me preocuppied most of the time now. I was suprised when I entered to see only the typical living room set up that I usually saw but no Elleanora. There was something fishy here. Something was different. There was something very wrong. Then my nose caught a hint of something. My eyes widened as I recognized the smell. Rain and cinnamon. I turned to run when the door shut and there he stood in all his glory. Part of me was scared and trying to find a way to run, but there was a bigger part of me that cheered at his presense. I had missed him even more than I had realized and I still felt like I did at the ball. The yellow glow was gone but I could still feel it, and the pull was so strong.
"Hey Violet" he said, smirking.
"Hey Jordan" I said my eyes kept switching from him to the door, trying to plan my best time for escape. I couldn't believe I had been tricked! I had to be more careful!
"So I've been looking for you every where. I haven't seen you since the dance" he said casually, steping right in front of me, blocking my view of the door and causing my heart to speed up quickly. I tried to steer clear of his eyes because if they caught me, I wouldn't be able to stop myself. I looked anywhere but at him with a lot of difficultly.
"Yeah, I've been really busy" I said saying the first excuse that came to my head. "Hmm...right busy" he said, like he didn't believe me a bit. Heck, I wouldn't have believed me either.
"So what did you want to tell me?" He asked still unsettlingly nonchalant. My eyes widened and I froze. Quickly I recovered, trying to act like my reaction was nothing.
"I don't have anything to tell you" I said as convincingly as I could. I was never good at lying. That was always Lily's skill.
"Oh really, that's strange because Lily caught up with me this morning and asked me if you had told me something" he said and I knew I was caught. No wonder Lily looked so guilty earlier. I knew her big mouth wouldn't stay shut for long, and now she left me to clean up her bloody mess!
"Oh well, you know, she's always saying stuff. I didn't have anything to tell you anyway, I must be going now, I have to go and meet with somone" I said, stepping to the side and about to head out the door.
"Who?" He asked suspiciously, and I stopped. I wracked my brains for names.
"Leo!" I said a little too enthusiastically for what was supposed to be not a lie.
"Oh really, that's funny because Leo left on vacation with Justin two days ago and won't be back until next Thursday" he said and I could hear the smirk in his voice. I cringed, now I was really caught.
"Oh well, I have to go anyway, you know princessy stuff and all" I said quickly, walking closer to the door. I knew it was an obvious lie now but maybe if I could just make it out the door, I'd have a chance of getting away. It was slim but it was still a chance. He grabbed my arm just before I could open the door. It was a tight but caring grasp. I tried to get away, but the resistance was weak because part of me didn't want to.
"Come on, just tell me" he said, his voice almost pleading now. I shook my head. "There's nothing to tell" I said, my voice small and faint.
"Look me in the eye and tell me that" he said, pulling me back to face him. His scent was so strong that I was starting to get a little faint again. I still refrained from looking at his face even though I was close to him now. I gasped when I felt his cold hand cup my chin, forcing me to look him in the eyes. They were as green as I remembered but they were filled with a sadness and desperation that was too much for me to bare.
"Now, do you have something to tell me?" He asked, his green eyes searching mine for answers that I so desperately tried to hide.
"Yes" I couldn't bring myself to lie to him anymore.
"What is it?" He asked. "I can't tell you" I said truthfully. I wasn't lying, I was just trying to resist.
"You can tell me anything" he said and as cliche as that line was, it sounded so sincere in his voice.
"I...I just can't" I said, my hold on my restraint weakening. He could see that too, I was sure of it.
"Yes you can" he said in a soft, sweet voice with a hint of desperation. It was enough to break down all pretenses and I couldn't stop myself.
"I love you"
