He showed me more and more rooms, never letting go of my hand the whole time. Lets just say I wasn't complaining. We were walking through the halls again when I saw Lily running up to us. She looked like she was going to say something but stopped and raised an eyebrow at us.
"Looks like we won't have to worry about you being human for too long aye sis?" She asked smirking. I blushed, dropping Jordan's hand quickly.
"It's nothing. You were going to say something" I said, switching subjects.
"Right, so mom and dad are home. They don't know you're here but we can go and see them together" she said although she sounded nervous. To tell the truth, so was I. "Well come on then let's go", she said pulling on my hand. I looked back at Jordan who had that lopsided smile back on.
"Bye!" I shouted as Lily dragged me away from him. I finally fell into step beside her.
"So where are we going exactly?" I asked, trying hard to keep up with her swift movement. "To the throne room. They're always in there right after they get back from meetings with other royals. I still can't figure our why. They just do" she said quickly. We went down two levels so we were finally on the lowest level. She led me to a giant door that reminded me of the ones you would see in ancient China. I bit my lip, as nervous as I had ever been in my entire life. She held my shoulders and looked me straight in the eyes. "It's going to be fine" she said, and I couldn't help but let Lily's reasuring words calm me. She opened the door and I followed her closely from behind. The room was empty but very high and really long. I didn't pay any attention to anything but who was sitting at the end of it. There were two throne chairs with very tall black and dark purple backs. There was a man sitting in the one on the left. There was a woman in the one on the right. As we got closer I noticed that the woman had long waist length wavy black hair and dark brown eyes. Her skin was snow pale. Like Snow White but more beautiful and exotic. She was dressed in a green dress with a black robe like Lily and mine's and appeared to be no more than twenty though it was obvious she wasn't. The man was more rough looking. He had short brown hair with noticeable stubble growing on his chin. He had a strong set jaw and piercing blue eyes. He wore a brown cloak with white puffed out pants and a baggy white button up shirt like the kind you would see in the time of early thirteen colonies. He looked about twenty three. The woman stood up and ran over to Lily while I stood back. She hugged her tightly.
"How are you my child?" She asked, words of a woman in her eighties but having the voice of a youthful angel.
"Fine but mom" Lily paused, pulling away and stepping aside so I was in full view. Our mother glided over gracefully to me. She stared into my eyes with ones wiser than any I had ever seen.
"Violet?" She asked looking almost as if she was going to cry. I nodded, unable to speak. She engulfed me in a warm hot despite the icy chill of her skin. "My baby girl" she choked, squeezing me harder.
"Maryanne, let her breathe. She's still human you know" came the death voice of our father. She let me go and I noticed she had tears in her eyes that just wouldn't fall. "Now come here flower" Dad said, holding out his arms. I ran into them like a little kid who's been on a long trip and is finally back. He held me out in front of him and looked at me. "You've become some woman" He said, smiling proudly. I grinned.
"Now Lily, we told you not to go after her" Mom said sternly, though she couldn't wipe the smile off her face.
"I didn't technically. I sent someone to get her" she said sheepishly fiddling with her fingers. "Whom did you send flower?" Dad asked, a voice as gentle as the wind.
"Jordan Liam father. He brought her back safely" she said, her voice holding the highest respect.
"I shall summon him" Mom said, closing her eyes. Then he appeared in front of us. He emediately fell to his knees in our parent's presence.
"Your majesty" he said, bowing his head. Our dad stepped forward, looming over Jordan's submissive form.
"You showed great bravery and self sacrifice when you went to retrieve my daughter. For this I dub you Protector of Valsargi. None but the royal family in this realm shall be higher. Now I give you the great responsibility of keeping my daughter safe until she is turned. Do you accept the honor of being her protector?" He asked, placing a gentle hand on Jordan's head. My eyes widened. Did I really need to be protected? I realized then that that was a stupid thought. Of course I did. I was a human in a realm of vampires.
"I accept willingly" he responded. It was like something right out of the middle ages. "I'm intrusting you with one of the most precious things in the world to me. Do not let me down" he said, finally taking away his hand. This must have been a signal because Jordan stood up, his eyes swimming with pride.
"I won't. It is an honor and a privelage" he said.
"Indeed. Keep a close watch. I have a feeling you'll have your hands full" he said, winking. "Hey!" I exclaimed jokingly. Everything was so perfect I couldn't believe it. I had actual loving parents. I was living in a realm of vampires not to mention, I was the princess of. And Jordan would be my protector. So he would always be around. I wasn't exactly complaining.
"Well then, why don't you proceed in giving her the grand tour" my mom said, warmly. The corners of his mouth kept twitching, threatining to let a smile loose.
"Of course" he said, holding his arm out for me to take. "
Shall we?" He grinned at me. I melted right then and there into a puddle. I nodded, looping my arm with his. It was one of those perfect moments.
"Yep. Let's go!" Lily said, looping with my other arm. My smile dropped and I groaned mentally. There goes a big chance at some more alone time with Jordan, down the tubes. Lily really did have the worst choice in timing ever.
