This was all wrong. My life was over after it had just began. These are the thoughts that ran through my head as my death stood towering over me. He leaned down towards me, grazing my neck with the sharp points of his fangs.
"All the right things in all the right places. Good girl" My heart stopped and I cried softly, letting streams flow down my cheeks, slow and antagonizing. The guy laughed at what he was sure, was fear. I felt wrong and violated. Then, just like that, he was pulled away from me and slammed against the wall. Blood spilt from his lip in impact.
"Looks like we have a problem here" an angel's voice spoke, holding him tightly by his shirt.
"What bussiness is it to you?" The man choked out. I was on the floor, holding my knees to my chest and crying but I would have normally laughed at his stupidity. Something told me that wasn't the smartest thing to say. The man was pushed back farther into the wall with unyeilding force. Jordan's face had death written all over it. His eyes were flashing from his emerald to dark violet in seconds.
"She. Is. My bussiness. From now on, you mess with her, and you're messing with me" His words were harsh and threatining. He yanked the bruised and broken man out of the wall and threw him hard across the floor. The man was out in a second and I heard some things crack in the process. Jordan turned to me, his eyes still violet. As he walked toward me, I shriveled back. His eyes turned the emerald that I loved again.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you Violet" he said, stepping closer to me again. I kept on backing away from him.
"He'll be fine. He'll only be out for two or three days tops" he said gently, moving once again closer to me. He kneeled down in front of me.
"I'm sorry if he hurt you" he said softly placing a hand on my knee. I gasped and in a flash I was against the wall of my old room. My assumed step dad was kneeling down in front of me with innocence fakely plastered in his eyes.
"I didn't mean to hurt you" he said, laying his head on my knee. I flinched away from him and I flinched away from Jordan.
"Don't touch me! Please!" I cried out, burrying my head in my arms. His eyes looked downcast and hurt.
"If you wish" he said, looking away from me. He stood up and walked into the room the girl was in. I just sat there, rocking and shaking with sobs. I felt two familiar arms wrap around me and pick me up like I was a little baby. Delicate. Fragile.
"Shh...everything's going to be ok" came Lily's voice, soft, careful and soothing. My heavy eyes slid close and everything around me disappeared.
I was staring up at the cieling from my twin, sheetless bed. Thinking about where Lily was and if she was happy. The door creaked open and my eyes shot, frightened to the figure standing in the doorway. He walked toward me and I pulled my knees up to my chest, going as far as I could away from him on my bed before I hit the windowless wall behind me. He crawled on the bed and scooted towards me. I could smell liquor on his breath and his squinted blue eyes held lust in their shallow waters. "Come here" he said, holding a hand out to me. I shook my head, squeezing my eyes shut. I felt a sharp pain spread across my face from the impact of his hand. Especially in the places where his rings had scratched skin. One had caught on my lip. causing it to split open in the middle. "Come here" he said again, his gruff voice sharp. I whimpered, going closer to him. He took my hand and pulled me against him. "Good girl" he said, his words slurring.
I cried, waking up with a start to find myself in my new room. I was shaking from the memory almost relived and I cried with relief that I was never going to have to go through that again. Hopefully... I pulled up my dress and bit my lip in pain as my hands skimmed over the burn marks on my thighs. My stomach ached from the large bruise that still hithered close to my breasts. Right at that moment, Lily came in and she gasped, spotting the abuse against my skin in a heart beat before I could cover it up.
"Violet, who did this to you?" I shook my head, looking away from her.
"Violet, you tell me right now" she said firmly. I looked up, trying to hold back anymore tears.
"It was a guy that our fake mom married after you left" I said, trying not to fall back into abyss. Her face was full of sorrow and when I finally saw her understand.
"Oh God Violet, I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed, tears springing to her eyes.
"It's ok. It's over now" I said, looking down at my eyes.
"No, it's not ok. I should've been here to help you. Better yet, you should've been here so that never would have had to happen" She said furious. I laughed a little.
"It was unpreventable. I'm ok" I said, forcing a little smile to sooth her guilty concience. "How long did this go on?" She asked, her face the most serious I had ever seen it.
"Two years before I put him away for it" I said feeling dirty and unworthy.
"I'm so sorry Violet" Lily said, taking my hands in her's and pecking each of my hands like she used to when we were little. I smiled a genuine one. I looked over and saw a vase full of lillies and violets.
"Who gave me these" I asked, noticing they hadn't been there before.
"Elleanora, the girl from the bakery. She picked them for you and wouldn't stop talking about how greatful she was the whole way back to the castle. We gave her a place to stay here like we knew you would want us too" Lily said, smiling.
"That was very good of you by the way even if it was a bit foolish" she said, shaking her head but a smile still played a part. Then she looked serious again.
"Jordan wanted to see you. Should I let him in?" She asked, giving me a choice showing my clearly that I could say no. My heart dropped when I remembered how I had treated him after he saved me back at the bakery and the sorrow in his perfect eyes.
"Yes please" I said, wanting so badly to apologize.
"Just wait a minute alright?" She said smiling softly again and exiting the room quickly. I stared out the window for awhile before I heard the door open again. Slowly I looked over to see Jordan standing there, staring at me again with those eyes. I felt so extremely terrible. He walked towards me and sat down on the bed a couple of spaces away from me. Tears sprung to my eyes again and I managed to keep them from being released.
"I'm so sorry. I was horrible to you and after you saved me!" I said, my voice shaky making it obvious that I was holding back those few tears.
"There's no need to apologize. Lily explained" he said, still staring at me with searching eyes. I hung my head in shame and embarresment. I couldn't bare to think what he thought of me now. Week, dirty, unworthy probably. I know I was thinking it. I gasped when I felt two strong arms wrap around me and pull me against Jordan's stone chest. I burried my head there and wrapped my arms around his torso, holding on for dear life. His arms pulled me tighter against him by my waist. He leaned down so his lips were just barely grazing my ear.
"It's not your fault" he whispered words no one had ever said to me. The words I had always desperately wanted to hear. A pair of soft icy lips pressed gently against my forehead making me shiver but smile in his embrace and that's how we sat. For how long, I didn't know but somehow time passes slowly when I'm with him.
