Cain POV
It had been a while since Cain had dreamt. Or since he could remember what he had dreamt. There had been a boy, not much older than he was, with large silver/blue wings. The boy had extended his hand to him and Cain had accepted the hand. A moment later however he tried to get away from the unknown boy screaming stuff nobody could hear and he himself didn't even understand. But the harder he tried to get away the closer the other boy seemed to come. Until they reached the spot where the boy pinned him against a tree and Cain was forced to look in his ice blue eyes, and everything seemed to meld away until the only thing that kept him from falling were the stranger's eyes. And with that feeling he had woken up this morning.

Shan POV

Shan couldn't really remember what had happened that day, all he knew was that it had most definitely been one of the worst days of his life. Just like other days he had woken up to train with his sensei * he had breakfast with his family, did his chores and went back for his evening training session, there something went wrong. They had been practicing a new move, the eagle… something, when he felt a terrible pain shooting in his back, It felt as if someone was breaking his spine over and over again. The last thing he saw before he lost conscious was his sensei's face hovering above him with a face in a worried, but knowing frown.

Cain POV

Cain sat at his table in the back of the classroom trying to stay awake dew history. He had always found the subject boring but mixed with a lack of sleep it was as if the subject was trying to kill him. And it was doing a good job at it. The only reason why he hadn't yet dropped the subject was because of the teacher, Professor Lee. The professor was only 26 and he and Cain were some sort of childhood friends or so you cloud say.
After class the professor came to talk to him which wasn't at all surprising because, even though he had tried so hard not to, he had fallen asleep somewhere at the end of class.
'You haven't been sleeping well.'
'Well thank you for noticing mister obvious.' Cain replied in an iterated voice. 'sorry, I haven't been sleeping well indeed so I'm a bit cranky.'
'I've known you for quite some time now, trust me I've dealt with your cranky moods before.' Lee said smiling. 'So why couldn't you sleep this time?'
'Bad dream I guess.' A thoughtful look appeared on Lee's face. 'What?'
'Nothing' He replied with a smile, only it didn't reach his eyes.
'You know I can tell when you're lying to me right?' surrendering himself with a sight lee said: 'I knew I shouldn't have spent so much time with you. Listen to me very carefully now I can't tell you anything, not until he is ready anyway, but I can give you this.' Looking through the stack of books he pulled one in particular old book from it and gave it to the confused boy standing before his desk.
'Avicellus, the real story behind' Cain read 'What is this?'
'When the time comes I'll explain everything to you, but for now, just try and read the book.' With a nod Cain shove the book in his bag and left the classroom.

Finally the last bell rang and he could go home. Fate however had other plans for him as he ran into the janitor on his way to his locker. Not seeing a trash can on his way he fell over taking the thing down with him. Garbage was spread all over the hallway as an angry looking janitor started yelling at him.
So with his amazingly good luck that day he had to clean all the corridors of the school and was too late for the train he had to take to get home.
Just seeing his train depart before his eyes the tired boy collapsed on one of the benches. He had to at least wait another half hour before the next train would come. His parents would, without doubt, be furious at him for once again showing up to late for dinner. Well now that he had to wait he could at least do something useful. Looking in his bag for homework his eyes landed on the old book Lee had given him. When he opened the book he noticed the strange smell, almost like bird, wait the bird's even have a smell? Shaking his head to clear his mind Cain started reading.

Chapter 1 the Avicellus
The Avicellus, also called Avice, are an old human like race. they are neither bird nor human, simply the best of both. Legend has it that this old race has been created by Yum Caax the Maya goddess of nature herself. The Avicellus DNA isn't passed down from parent to child but the gen chooses his master randomly. That's also the reason why Avicellus children are dangerous in their first weeks, without experience and knowledge their powers can easily become too much. The gen only activates when it's host comes to the age of 16, the age that the human body has all the stuff that the gen needs, from that moment on the host's body will start to change. This change is really painful and will happen on times the host expects it the least this is because the gen wants his host too be aware of it. Only when it gets noticed the gen will stop. But then a other problem will appear because from that moment on the transformations will only become more painful unless the Avice bonds to his mate.

Interrupted by a train stopping before him, Cain dropped the book in his bag and entered the train. Looking at the quick passing landscapes he wondered why the professor had given him a book about a mythical creator and if he had by any chance given him the wrong book. And if not, what this weird creator had to do with him. He was 15 now and would be 16 in a couple of weeks, did professor Lee think he was one of these Avicellus?

Shan POV

Strange voices were calling his name, no were crying his name. First it were only soft whispers but as time passed by the voices became louder and more pleading. As he tried to block the sound by putting his hands over his ears, he came to a conclusion, he didn't have hands. Now that he really paid attention he didn't even have a body! Now the voices almost yelled, and Shan on his turn tried to yell as well, what of course didn't work. Just when he thought he was going crazy a little light appeared in the distance. Not knowing if it was a good or a bad light, but definitely not wanting to stay with the scary voices, he tried to get to the direction of the light. As the light grew bigger the voices became whispers again, and new voices appeared. But these voices Shan recognized his parents and his sensei were talking to each other on his right.
'Why did you lie to the boy about his birthday!' that was his sensei's angry voice he had heard that voice more times than he had heard sensei's happy voice, that is if the man even had such a thing.
'We never lied to him, we told him everything we knew when we adopted him. And truth is, we didn't know his birthday.' His dad snapped.
'But what has that to do with Shan's breakdown' sounded his mother's cold voice. She had never been a kind and loving women, only caring about appearance.
'I can't explain but I'll be taking him with me for now.'
'And what exactly gives you the right to do that?' his dad growled.
'The fact that you're killing your son if you won't.' Came his sensei's irritated replay. 'Now open your eyes boy I know you're awake.' Shan slowly opened his eyes and looked at the fighting trio besides his bed.
'Why do I have to leave sensei?'
'I'll explain later now pack your bag, we need to leave. Now' his tone left no room for argument and Shan understood immediately as he got up to pack his belongings.
'Where are we going sensei?'
'We're going to look for your mate before it's too late.'
