Scarlet Damsel

Poetry By: annaarcher
Romance

This is not complete. I still have editing and revision to do, but for now, this is it.
This poem, if you can not tell from the writing, is about a love triangle. My poem, Damsel in Distress, is about a girl who is in love and truly cares about her significant other, but of course, there is another boy trying to take her (because he loves her), whom she really cares for.

Darling, Darling, it's almost alarming how much you can fool my senses.
The girls, the girls, how they go jumping like dogs over fences.
And you, oh you, you only jump for me.
You go climbing trees, and setting my mind free.
And there you go, with a kiss as warm as snow.
My kiss sweet as candy,
a scent lovely as my mother's favorite lavendar purfume.
Your embrace pleasant as a tiger's thrash.
Those James Dean eyes are as good as trash.
I'm crying, I'm crying, you're as good as mine.
The girls, those stupid girls, try and copy my every move, acting as though they are mimes.
But I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm his and only his.
And here I stand, just trying to make sense of all of this.
Dear, here I am. I'm the scarlet in the garden.
And there they stand, asking for your pardon.
Yet you love me, and they all can see.
But I love him, which you can barely believe.
I've got my red dress on, and my lipstick to match,
Make up what I've made up, the scars will be patched.
but by the end of the night, smeared half down my face...
Back and forth in my room, all I'll do is pace.
You are my price charming, the one I've prayed and waited for.
I am the damsel in distress, but also the antagonist of sorts.
But I guess you'll be my eternal lover, the lover I can never hold.
I wish "I love you" were the last words you were told.
