Beneath the Surface of my Heart- by Michaela Lourens

Poetry By: Ashleigh Butcher

hey guys!
Well, as you can pick up from the title, i didn't write this. Actually, it was written for me by one of my most amazing friends at school- Micky. It's lovely free verse- and so honest and true. She's great at these things, as you can see, and i hope it touches everyone as much as it touched me.
Please don't hold your comments back- i want her to make her own page; and this will hopefully be what convinces her of it.
Keep writing, mics- you're my inspiration to still have hope.

*for ash*

Discover that dusty key and undo the lock,

Set me free, let me open my wings.

I can take you to a place you've never been;

Break u away from this ordinary cage

And into the light I will take you.

You will see that there is so much more to me if you open your eyes,

and take the time,

to explore who I really am.

Behind this pretty face you say you see, is a girl aching to pour her heart out to you.

But instead I keep quiet, and all I have are your words that caress my heart...and you don't even know.

Can't you forget about the world behind you, look to the future ahead?

Don't be afraid to take my hand

and I'll show you a world dreams are made of.

Hold my tight as we take flight into this extraordinary life I want to share with you...

But I think what I need from you now,

is for you to want to be with me....

The boy with the beautiful blue eyes....

Michaela Lourens
