Hearts Lost, Society Rules (Song)

Poetry By: BaileyThompson
Romance

This is a song my friend and I wrote. This is the first song that I've written (in part) that I'm willing to show! I would like to write more songs, so if you have any comments/suggestions, please let me know!

My friend did put it to music (guitar) and sang it too - it sounded amazing, I might share it with you... One day!

I love you, he always told her
As he held her in his strong embrace
They were, perfect together
He knew it when she stared in his face
She loved him more than she had any other
Their hearts were intertwined like intricate lace
It seemed that they lived in a dream
As they moved along at their own pace
Maybe it was odd how distant they were,
In the face of the public eye,
Why? Maybe fear of being misunderstood,
The fear of being criticized,
They didn't want their love to die,
No they didn't want their love to die
Oh she's too young, why would he choose her?
Oh he's so great, but who is she?
Nothing gets spared by society
They have a way of breaking barriers
Like a tsunami wave
Chorus:
He came to her as the man of a dream,
And carried her higher and farther,
Like a bug drawn to the kerosene
So brutally beautiful made only to harm her,
He was a miracle she couldn't have forseen
Too good to be true,
Too good to last forever
Every night she would wait by the phone,
But more and more often, her hopes would be crushed,
He was still with her, but she felt so alone,
He was the broom and she was the dust,
To be brushed away from his warmth and light,
He was her refuge from the troubles of life,
Now falling she was,
Yeah falling she was,
And falling she was,
And falling she was,
Chorus
Never before did she have such a scar
The love she had with him was gone
Lost was his love and her shining star
Just like the ending of a love song
Chorus
His love to her was so true,
His promise, never clear,
He came to her again, after thinking it through,
And held her, telling her not to fear,
So baby, wipe away your tears,
We'll be okay; don't listen to them ever,
They don't know love, but after all these years,
We do, so let's be together
