If Time Stopped on This Moment

Poetry By: Christopher M Brown

I think I'm losing my touch, have gone soft, etc. Ruining a perfect reputation of being cynical and sarcastic in the process. Still though, sometimes you have to push past all false pretenses and just open yourself up to potentially take a downfall. Without risk, there is no gain. So here I put myself out there, with no safety line to stop myself from falling, and trust in someone else again.

If time were to freeze
On this moment, for eternity
Would you be happy?
Just lying here with me?
Your hand in mine,
Staring into my eyes
Our hearts beating in time
Would you find reason and rhyme?
And if I were to say I love you
Would you say it back?
If I said I cared for you
Would it mean the world to you?
If time were to freeze
on this moment, for eternity
Would it be enough if we had each other
To hold one another,
To be together,
Two hearts beating as one, forever?
Would you be happy with me
And return my love, forever young
If time stopped for eternity...
