She shivers in the rain,
Lip trembling, tears tumbling.
Wet ducky socks on her petite little feet,
And she is all alone.
I can never hold her,
Nor shield her from the wet and cold.
I can't stop the cruelty,
And I can't keep her from crying.
How can I know she isn't sad?
All I can hope is that she isn't dead.
I can lie in bed and cry until my eyes run dry,
And I can lie there until I die,
But I will never hold her again,
I will never see her again.
I can dream of her,
And I can remember her,
But I'll always see My Ducky,
If only in my dreams.
For Sandra Elizabeth Dixon. I will always love you.
