It might have been,
It could have been,
It should have been,
It nearly was.
We met for lunch,
It was our first,
Our first and last,
We wanted more.
I held her hand,
She held my hand,
We sat so close,
We softly kissed.
She wanted me,
I wanted her,
Our feelings grew,
We kissed some more.
Her cellphone rang,
My cellphone rang,
Her husband called,
My wife was there.
She had to leave,
I had to leave,
Our lunch was done,
So was our tryst.
It might have been,
It could have been,
It should have been,
It nearly was.
