Two people meet for lunch, want something more, but it's too late. But what if?

It might have been,

It could have been,

It should have been,

It nearly was.

We met for lunch,

It was our first,

Our first and last,

We wanted more.

I held her hand,

She held my hand,

We sat so close,

We softly kissed.

She wanted me,

I wanted her,

Our feelings grew,

We kissed some more.

Her cellphone rang,

My cellphone rang,

Her husband called,

My wife was there.

She had to leave,

I had to leave,

Our lunch was done,

So was our tryst.

It might have been,

It could have been,

It should have been,

It nearly was.
