I wrote this poem as I fought with the feelings and doubts I had before my fiance and I got together

She is an angel in disguise,

Oblivious to her true beauty.

He has compelling golden eyes,

He's perfection truly.

She has walked into love with eyes wide open,

Ready for anything to come her way.

He isn't sure if its safe for hoping,

He'll see some day.

She holds onto many dizzy day dreams,

Unsure of what to reveal.

There's more to him than there seems,

His tattered heart she tries to heal.

The beast within Lacking trust?

One mustn't give in.

She will do what she must.

Within her heart is where he dwells,

He makes her smile.

In her eyes the tears begin to swell,

But only for a little while.

In his arms she seeks comfort and calm,

Taking refuge in his warm embrace.

Wilting under the emotions that swarm,

She loses herself, without a trace.

Left with only her love for him,

She's losing everything she once was.

Drowning in emotions, she's forgotten how to swim,

She can't lose him,

even as he withdraws.

She must trust in his affection,

He must trust in her love.

Risk his painful rejection,

Risk losing his gift from above.
