Lovers Game: A Quintilogy of Poems

Poetry By: Evangeline17
Romance

I don't even think quintilogy is a word in the dictionary... oops :P But really, I mean there's a trilogy for 3 things, a quadrilogy for 4, so 5 needs something, too. Actually, I think I don't think I've seen "quadrilogy" used anywhere.

Not important, the poem does have a rhyme scheme. Since I enjoy writing songs, it goes "verse" - "chorus" - "verse" - "chorus" etc. I like the number 5, so that's why it has 5 parts. And although there isn't a defined meter, I tried to keep the lines in a similar-ish rhythm.

1. Living

The sun will set off into the distance

A flower will bloom in times to come

Each is a life, has it's own instance

Not all will be lucky, but only some

Hie thee onward my dearest friend

Hie thee forward, but to what end?

Hie thee hither, and do not leave

For living, is loving, will you receive?

For every life new, another goes out

And beauty in youth is gone in a flash

Everything changes, within and without

Today, or tomorrow, we all must crash

Hie thee onward my dearest friend

Hie thee forward, but to what end?

Hie thee hither, and do not leave

For living, is loving, will you receive?

Life without purpose is nothing at all

For it is worthless to do without heed

But life all alone, is not worth the fall

For loving is living, 'tis a great deed

Hie thee forward my dear, my one

Hie thee hither, to me my someone

Hie thee again, but always return

For living, is loving, when will you learn?

2. Loving

Lift from me pain and stay with me

Lift up my spirits and we will go

Without you, I will lose my liberty

For you captured me long ago

Stay by my side, in pain and in health

If we are together we will need no wealth

I will always be true, even if you deceive

I will always give, and you will receive

I will hold your hand whenever we walk

And I will never try to stumble away

I will listen to you, whenever you talk

And I will not try to lead you astray

Stay by my side, in pain and in health

If we are together, we will need no wealth

I will always be true, even if you deceive
I will always give and you will receive

For I will love you, I hope you love me

But if you do not, then I will be glum

I'll be on my own, without you I be

For we know two equals one plus one

Be by my side, in pain and in health

If we are together, we will need no wealth

I will always be true, even if you deceive

I will always give and you will receive

3. Loathing

The root of loathing deep in her soul

And I am her target she seeks to end

And I alone, the one am I goal

To no end she stops, I cannot defend

Once a good friend, a forever a foe

Never forgiven, she stoops so low

Jealous in heart, for mine is the boy

She will not give in, she aims to destroy

Such is a human, petty and small

Enthralled by greed, all virtue is faded

Once given a bit, they will take all

Nothing to stop her, nothing to be traded

Once a good friend, a forever a foe

Never forgiven, she stoops so low

Jealous in heart, for mine is the boy

She will not give in, she aims to destroy

She tears him away, away from my side

Now I am left lonely, and they are two

Nothing to do, no place I can hide

I thought we were strong, that we'd be true

He went for that girl, no longer my friend

I should have known, that it would have end

For he is not golden, but blackened and dead

I lost my way, for I once was led

4. Losing

Again I will try, again will I fail

For love is like wind, so hard to find

And harder still, to find that trail

To lead you to one to not leave you behind

But we all lose, before we can win

Love comes from the soul, the soul within

And when it is lost, scars are left deep

When we cannot hold what we used to keep

And then I will find him, my prince of men

He will stay with me, 'til life doth end

And all good will watch, all say, "amen"

All my wounds deep, those will he mend

But we all lose, before we can win

Love comes from the soul, the soul within

And when it is lost, scars are left deep

When we cannot hold what we used to keep

One day perhaps, he'll steal from my side

Not to another, but into the dark

My heart will be torn, broken inside

Blooms on his grave, a singing lark

And we all lose, even after we win

Love is pure, not close to sin

And when it is lost, scars are left deep

When our beloved, is lost to sleep

5. Leaving

Even after loss, we can love another

Nothing lasts forever, it will be done

But love can be, too, sister and brother

And that tie is strong, mother and son

Hie I away, my dearest friend

Hie I hither to you I amend

Hie I onward with you by me

For only with love, can we truly be free

And friends who are true, will never leave

Only those who are fake will ever be parted

And lovers who love, will always retrieve

Never to leave you there broken-hearted

Hie I away, my dearest friend

Hie I hither to you I amend

Hie I onward with you by me

For only with love, can we truly be free

The sun will set off into the distance

A flower will bloom in times to come

Each is a life, has it's own instance

Not all will be lucky, but only some

Hie thee forward my dear, my one

Hie thee hither, to me my someone

Hie thee again, but always return

For living, is loving, when will you learn?
