Winter Nights

I know that love, it knows no season
It knows no difference, in dark or light
But if ever I’m glad, you’re my companion
It’s here with you, on winter nights

The wind outside, is cold and freezing
The snow is deep, and linen white
But here inside the fire is burning
We rest beside, it’s warmth and light

I see that time, it moves with reason
It goes on slowly, as do our lives
But time it’s self, it has no meaning
When I’m with you, on winter nights

The moon looks bright, through frosted windows
The lake is frozen, no one’s in sight
But here inside, the fire is dancing
In your blue eyes, I see its light

I feel that living, is given to us
We make the most, and set our sights
But if ever I’m gifted, in Isolation
It’s here with you on winter nights

Off in the hills, a wolf cries lonely
He knows the feel, of winter’s bite
But here inside, our dogs lie sleeping
Dreaming beside, the fire bright

I know that love, it knows no season
It knows no difference, in dark or light
But if ever I’m glad, you’re my companion
It’s here with you, on winter nights
