For Love of a White Rose

Roses white for purity
A wisp of innocence,
Youthfulness and secrecy
All dwell in hearts of love

Within these misty corridors
Illusion oft will hide
Revealing music of the soul
Binding heart to heart

The blood of love, in passion boils
It swirls in lover’s hearts
No barriers of gods or men
No gates eternal barred

The heart of love ‘tis force unbound
No greater power there be
Forever binds the captive heart
Forever and a day

And as I hold this snow white rose
A thorn my finger pricks
I watch the blood it trickles down
A strange thought comes to me

They who fall under love’s spell
Snared in passions cell
Eternal chains of love do bind
Never to set free

The white rose is for purity
For love is pure in deed
Innocence and youthfulness
Within a lover’s heart
