Cold Love

Poetry By: Ikky2000

Don't you ever wish you had someone to cuddle close to when it's so damn cold? I know I do. Where I live, it's literally been freezing, and I wish I could snuggle close to 'the special someone' and keep me warm as I fall asleep. This poem is inspired by Winter and Valentine's day because everyone loves Valentine's day but I'm not big on it. The reason is: what happens to all those people who are single out there? Valentine's day wouldn't really mean much to them, would it? Especially if it's cold, who will you snuggle close to at night?
I hope you enjoy reading, my darlings and strangers.
Much love, XO, Ikky.

Cold Love

On a cold winters night,

I think of you beside me;

snuggling closer to keep me warm,

as the chilly breeze wisps into the room.

Inhale. Exhale. He'll be back soon,

so patiently I wait for you, my love, to come home to me.

So then we can lie close under the covers,

whilst the trees chatter against the window,

and the snow falls heavily outside.

All memories of our life together flood back:

from the special day we met,

to the times when we realized how much we love each other.

From when we laughed, talked and teased one another,

to the moments in which we shed tears of sorrow and hurt.

Through everything, we've been;

we end up stronger than ever.

And now as I wait for you,

I stare out the window and watch the icicles.

They gradually fall delicately from the sky,

and land on the beautiful snow covered floor;

soon they disappear into liquid and merge with each other...

An hour passes and still you don't come back,

tears start to flow, stay strong,

but nothing works, even music seems to fail,

so I hide beneath the covers on my own,

shivering uncontrollably from the biting ice-cold weather,

as I wait for you to return to me,

on this cold Wintery night.
