She looks so beautiful tonight.
Don't stop to pause.
There's no real harm done,
Just that bittersweet pain she might cause.
And she just doesn't understand,
That it's like a stab to the chest.
But, it's alright. It's all okay.
He's a pure, forgiving soul.
So, he'll love her forever anyway.
Another gent asks her to dance.
The classic blush and shy, quiet giggle.
He replies with a gracious smile,
She accepts and takes his hand,
Like she's doing something worthwhile.
She doesn't have, doesn't have a clue.
He can hardly contain the feelings he has.
But, he doesn't have, doesn't have a chance.
He walks out, angry and confused.
She's still waiting for one special dance.
She looks around for her one true love,
But, he's gone; He's run away,
With only himself and the night sky.
He needs to think, to clear his head.
To think about why he's been living a lie.
She flees the floor, away from the dance,
Afraid she'll lose him for good.
She's ready to expose those feelings she's defied.
She finds him and takes his hand,
Silent, they stand there, side by side.
Maybe he'll tell her, but decides he won't,
So, he drops her hand from his.
He turns and starts to walk away,
That was his chance to make things clear.
But, he's scared of what she has to say.
It's not over yet,
At least, not in her eyes.
She takes his hand and gives him a kiss.
Both hearts to skip a beat,
Ecstatic from this unexpected bliss.
