I lay on my side
out the window I stare
I feel the chill
of the early spring air
quietly I listen
the rain trickles down
I love the beat
of that tap, tap, tap sound
It comforts, it soothes
refreshing's the scent
I'm lost for words
but whats to prevent
my dissolving from life
to hide from the pain
resolve the strife
I smell the rain
I've loved and lost
my heart is still broken
deeply it cut
words softly spoken
won't heal the emptiness
time does not mend
a heart once broken
remains 'til the end
cold and listless
lifeless and blue
how will I live
If I can't be with you
look at the cost
it bruises my soul
I reflect on the moments
the pain takes its toll
I resolve to forgive you
lightning strikes
the wind blows
the leaves of life scatter
only God knows
the love that we shared
was meant to be
but as time marches on
we'll never see
the mysteries of life
there's no you and me
the mist of the storm
continues to stir
I'm still in love
I wish you were
lying next to me
embracing my dreams
I stare out the window
happiness seems
to have vanished
completely from my life
I close my eyes
the pain cuts like a knife
when I awake
your skin I can feel
is this a game
is this for real
I roll to my side
you are with me
our spirits collide
this cannot be
but your tender voice
lovingly quenches the pain
and quietly....
we taste the rain
