And silence followed

Poetry By: John Wanjora

Just found this from my old campus files. Year: 1999. Guess I wasn't cut out to write romance. Won't you 4give me 4 that?

Every time I close my eyes

I see your graceful face

And the brave smile that you wore

On the saddest day of my life

When without a promise of reunion

You said goodbye.

My smile dissolves in slow motion

Slowly turning into sulk

Tears welling up in my eyes

Then I break into desolate weeping.

Your memories still fill my life

With countless inspirations you gave me

And the things I wouldn't have done in life

But did them all for you.

Then silence fills my heart

A silence that grows deep and horrid

Regretting every wrong I did you,

And dreaming of your impossible return.

Yes, my hands waved goodbye,

With the heart beckoning you.

But you still went away

And silence followed.

John M. Wanjora.
