All The Things We Are

Poetry By: Josephine Ann

A uniquely structured piece; freeform but also a sort of connect-the-dots. It's one of my favorites.

Lie in bed 10 years from now, bare cheast to breast. Trace.

Ribs, from bellybutton to lips. Shiver.

From the tip of my toes to my forehead. Kiss.

My face, my shoulders, my stomach. Praise.

God has given us these gifts. Decide.

Take the plunge, take the chance. Whisper.

In my ear, tell me what you want. Serve.

Each other, forgetting self. Turn.

Around, the lights, each other. Want.

My body, your body, our bodies. Don't.

Be ashamed, hesitate. Need.
