And I believe him
Just like last time
As he tells me, we'll spend the day
Not just the night
And I smile because
I know he's telling the truth
As he slips his pinky finger around mine
He says, we'll let our secrets
See the light of day
And let everyone know
What we are
I ask him, what exactly are we?
He smiles, you'll find out
Oh and I do find out
About halfway out of the driveway
As another girl's car pulls up
And he steps outside
To open the door for her
And he sees me staring
His face is cold iron poker
And his indifference is overwhelming
I crash into the tree behind me
A harsh reality
I wasn't ready for
But I manage to drive away
And I am tempted to look
In the rearview mirror
But I tell myself,
These attachments won't do
So I push my foot down on the gas
And use all the speed I have
To place as much distance
Between me and him
As I possibly can
I think, there goes another wasted night
With another wasted boy
Who took another piece of my soul
And wasted it
I should learn faster
