I thought I saw your face last night as I looked at the stars in the skies
I saw your mouth, heard your voice and swam in your beautiful eyes
I thought I heard you speak to me as I gazed up at the lonely moon
An angelic sound echoed down and told me you'd love me again soon
I thought I watched you walk across the milky way, far out to space
And lost myself in thoughts of you, your beauty and your grace
I thought I heard you call out my name that reached me on the breeze
I called back to you, heard no reply, and begged for you on my knees
I thought I smelled your perfume in smoke that grew to the sky from a fire
I followed the smoke to find you in the flames but the signal was a liar
I thought I felt you touch my face and stroke my body with your hands
I held my breath and told you my dreams, my hopes, my joy, my plans
I thought I heard you crying for me and longing for my return
Your cries echoed from the fire, your words did crackle and burn
I thought I felt your hand on my chest and you rest your head on my shoulder
I stood enthralled at your merest touch until the night grew colder
I thought of you as I tried to breath and live my life last night again
The thoughts of you consumed my sanity and filled my heart with pain
