We ran through streets,
Floating on air,
Flashing past the streetlights,
Staring up into the sky,
To neon lights and the twilight city,
All dressed up with her hood on,
A generation reflecting off her beautiful smile.
The butterfly affect left me hanging in the sky,
Under the paper moon,
She was real,
Nothing else existed,
It was all just matter…
In the dark corners shadows would flee,
The light of her face lit the way,
And the heartless scowled on our energy,
We trailed our fingers into the sky,
We moved the stars to make shapes,
She made a scene of a beach,
It was beautiful…
The concrete land was harsh to us,
But her sensitive touch cleared the way,
She loved to see me behind.
When we reached the park she laughed as I tripped on the red grass,
Its bloody colour stained my jeans,
But I didn’t care,
She didn’t care.
I have no reasons to cry,
I have no reasons to bleed,
She hid behind the porcelain trees,
Their fragile feel didn’t crack under her gentle touch.
I chased her for hours,
She would laugh at the silly mistakes I would do,
Then she stopped,
She stared out to the tree line,
I followed her to the beach.
She looked back at me and smiled,
The sunset lit the shape of her face,
And the teal sky showered its warmth into our hearts.
She jumped onto my back and I carried her along the sand,
She rested her head on my shoulder and whispered;
“Don’t give up”
It was all I needed,
It was what the world needed to hear,
So I ran,
I ran with her on my back.
There was no need to run on the sand,
She was my wings,
The waves would reach my feet,
She screamed when the gold water would splash,
It was cute…
“There!” she shouted,
I followed her pointing hand to the sea,
There was a light…
“Please…” she whispered into my ear,
Still on my back…
The golden water calmed and froze.
I walked the golden path with her on my back,
She looked into the water dreamily,
Watching the life below…
I smiled at her sweetness,
She tightened herself to me,
And I let a tear fall from my eye.
The golden water exploded from the tear,
And we were thrown into the light.
“Don’t be afraid” she said,
I believed her.
We were suspended in animation.
Our lives stood still,
And I held her hand in mine,
As we were frozen,
Frozen for a thousand years.
I never turned to her,
She didn’t turn either.
The black emptiness began to ripple,
And the resplendent light from her heart shattered the wall…
We fell,
Down to humanity,
She still held my hand,
I knew she was going to protect me…
She held me in the air,
In the centre of a thousand suns,
Their orange light glowing from every direction,
And with every blink of her eyes a sigh of relief was felt through me…
She was a diamond,
Hard and beautiful,
She was a sword,
Sharp and protective,
She was my love,
Eternal even after death…
We glided down together…
To a small town,
A snowy town in the darkness of night…
We were homeward children,
After a journey like no other…
She was my universal diva,
The straight lines of my path,
The arctic strings of my cold heart,
The spontaneous fate to my being,
The massive attack of my will,
The psychological flare of my happiness,
She was a million things and more…
She taught me how to fall,
She was my stranger in the rain,
She was the dense haze that shielded me from their eyes...
She was the teal tipped tears that trickled down my face,
She made the viscosity of my faith,
She made every fragment of my memories…
And here I wait…
I wait alone,
Staring up at the dark sky,
Waiting for her to return…
I wait alone,
Sitting helplessly on the ground,
Sitting on the black snow…
Its black flakes drizzle onto my face…
She was my Cadence…
