We ran through streets,

Floating on air,

Flashing past the streetlights,

Staring up into the sky,

To neon lights and the twilight city,

All dressed up with her hood on,

A generation reflecting off her beautiful smile.

The butterfly affect left me hanging in the sky,

Under the paper moon,

She was real,

Nothing else existed,

It was all just matter…

In the dark corners shadows would flee,

The light of her face lit the way,

And the heartless scowled on our energy,

We trailed our fingers into the sky,

We moved the stars to make shapes,

She made a scene of a beach,

It was beautiful…

The concrete land was harsh to us,

But her sensitive touch cleared the way,

She loved to see me behind.

When we reached the park she laughed as I tripped on the red grass,

Its bloody colour stained my jeans,

But I didn’t care,

She didn’t care.

I have no reasons to cry,

I have no reasons to bleed,

She hid behind the porcelain trees,

Their fragile feel didn’t crack under her gentle touch.

I chased her for hours,

She would laugh at the silly mistakes I would do,

Then she stopped,

She stared out to the tree line,

I followed her to the beach.

She looked back at me and smiled,

The sunset lit the shape of her face,

And the teal sky showered its warmth into our hearts.

She jumped onto my back and I carried her along the sand,

She rested her head on my shoulder and whispered;

“Don’t give up”

It was all I needed,

It was what the world needed to hear,

So I ran,

I ran with her on my back.

There was no need to run on the sand,

She was my wings,

The waves would reach my feet,

She screamed when the gold water would splash,

It was cute…

“There!” she shouted,

I followed her pointing hand to the sea,

There was a light…

“Please…” she whispered into my ear,

Still on my back…

The golden water calmed and froze.

I walked the golden path with her on my back,

She looked into the water dreamily,

Watching the life below…

I smiled at her sweetness,

She tightened herself to me,

And I let a tear fall from my eye.

The golden water exploded from the tear,

And we were thrown into the light.

“Don’t be afraid” she said,

I believed her.

We were suspended in animation.

Our lives stood still,

And I held her hand in mine,

As we were frozen,

Frozen for a thousand years.

I never turned to her,

She didn’t turn either.

The black emptiness began to ripple,

And the resplendent light from her heart shattered the wall…

We fell,

Down to humanity,

She still held my hand,

I knew she was going to protect me…

She held me in the air,

In the centre of a thousand suns,

Their orange light glowing from every direction,

And with every blink of her eyes a sigh of relief was felt through me…

She was a diamond,

Hard and beautiful,

She was a sword,

Sharp and protective,

She was my love,

Eternal even after death…

We glided down together…

To a small town,

A snowy town in the darkness of night…

We were homeward children,

After a journey like no other…

She was my universal diva,

The straight lines of my path,

The arctic strings of my cold heart,

The spontaneous fate to my being,

The massive attack of my will,

The psychological flare of my happiness,

She was a million things and more…

She taught me how to fall,

She was my stranger in the rain,

She was the dense haze that shielded me from their eyes...

She was the teal tipped tears that trickled down my face,

She made the viscosity of my faith,

She made every fragment of my memories…

And here I wait…

I wait alone,

Staring up at the dark sky,

Waiting for her to return…

I wait alone,

Sitting helplessly on the ground,

Sitting on the black snow…

Its black flakes drizzle onto my face…

She was my Cadence…

This was a very lovely poem. I'm not sure I understood the significance of all the imagery, but I thought it was beautiful. To me it describes the progression of a relationship, from the new and exciting courtship to perfect harmony in love. The ending was really sad because I wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to rejoin her love. This was vivid and eloquent poem, and I really reading enjoyed it!

Thankyou very much Stephanee, its nice to see a new name.
You dont have to worry about the significance too much. It was more about feeling in the moment, everything is different.
Very nice way of putting it, and yeah the ending could either be sad, or it could be truly heartwarming. It is better to have loved than not to have loved at all... or something like that hahhahaha!!!!
Thanks again Stephanee, i really appreciate the comment and i am thrilled that you liked it.

i almost cried reading this. it really moved me... this is so beautiful lionheart and i think this is my favorite of yours. most of the poem was sooo uplifting and inspiring, heartwarming and lovely, and then comes the end... tragic and sad. i'm completely in love with this poem of yours! haha ^^ i loved all your descriptions of her and how she meant to you. it was like with her you could defy anything and everything. like i said, very beautiful.
i thoroughly enjoyed reading this ^^

And i could just type 'thankyou' over and over again but it would sound weird.
Im sorry it was a sad ending for you... honestly i believe its a sad ending depending on the way the reader sees it... i didnt mean to confuse you haha
If it almost brought tears then i am really proud of it.
Thankyou SOOOO MUCH! I can never say it enough.

A generation reflecting off her beautiful smile

Lionheart, this was simply exquisite. I loved it!
The love that comes through your word are amazing.

If this girl really exists, she must be a real sweety.

Its good. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

Isn't a cadence a long, -unaccompanied-, freely played and somtimes improvised -solo- or passage? I felt like I was viewing an illusion while I read, and the ending clarified to me that it was all just an illusion. Seeing as cadence means alone. You've placed an illusion on a pedestal I'm afraid. Like elixir for your imagination.

Very beautiful.

:O

I loved the way you put it, but thats not the way it was going when i was writing it. You were thinking of 'cadenza' :D
Cadence is kind of like the fall... the last series of notes played in a song that finish the song off. The ending.
But in reference to this poetry; the ending to what? Like you said, the ending to an illusion. But i can hope cant i?
Your right, i needed to write this. Truth is a double edged sword. Beautiful.

haha, thankyou Peach,.

that's absolutely beautiful. no other words for it.

Straight to the point huh? haha, very beautiful of you to say Krystina, always looking forward to what you have to say :)
Thankyou.

So beautiful lionheart. It definatly made me smile. Even the end, even though it was kind of sad. But the happiness is what you have to keep. Happiness is light and light is better, much better, than dark. =) Mandy P.S. my friend says hi. =)

Your friend? Are they single? [with a raised eyebrow in a suggestive way]

Sorry... i guess that scared them away haha. Well hello back in any case.

Smiling is the light for me, so thankyou VERY VERY VERY VERY much.

The ending can be sad or a happy ending. I like this piece... if thats not illegal for me to say hahahh... i dont feel sad when i read this, i re read this to feel 'lighter' like you said. Its like a substitute to relying on the voice in my head. There is someone in reality that will replace it one day.

Thankyou Mandy, have a wonderful day my White Gold Etude.

Man,
you just made me tear :'(
Such a persevering lover.
Waiting for the memories to be real again.

Its not over until i say its over. I would wait until trumpet sounds to relive memories.

The snow numbs the pain.
Thanks a lot Punishment.

I don't know clearly what it means but I absolutely loved it just the same. Your first two stanzas had me hooked - from there I could not escape, I had to read on. Sorrowful, desolate ending.
Lionheart be assured - you are talented enough that if you really like a poem others will too! Truly (a lesson I learned when I published some very personal poems I wrote about my son, I thought no-one else woul appreciate them because they were so personal.)

I have actually thought of approaching a publisher... i have a mild fear that i am not good enough... its hard to tell... my style is unique... what the world of writing wouldnt call 'aesthetic'...

My heads ripping itself apart to get out there and at least try... but its hard. When you spend your life not sharing a hobby... its hard to tell whether you can go anywhere with it...
But your comment is very motivating. Thankyou so much. Everything happens at its appropriate time and you have proven it... i may give it a shot... because i want to spend my life doing something that i enjoy. I have only thought to make this a carrer now... its a bit late in terms of experience. I have no experience in the industry... i have no connections... i have no one that writes poetry around me in reality... its hard... we'll see what happens.

What exactly do they ask of you when you go to a publisher. Now that i know someone in australia who has had something published i can use you as support :) Nothing happens by accident so i would appreciate it if you helped me to prepare myself.

In regards to the poem. Thankyou so much. Yes its a strange ending that sets the reader on the border of emotions. Its a sudden drop from some place high. But was it a crash at the bottom, or a gentle landing? It depends on your mentality i guess.

Thankyou so much.

would with a "d' - I seem to have to apologise for typos - sorry!

HAHAHAHAH!!!! No problem, dont apologise at all. hHAHAHAH!!! I didnt even notice it.

This is one of the sweetest things I've ever read. I'm completely and utterly honest. While I was reading it, I imagined two people who sort of lived in the clouds, and they lived in an alternate universe or something. Then, around the middle of the poem they sort of came crashing to earth and experienced life there. I also had a lot of visions of New York and Australia's beaches.

This is such a good poem and soooo sooo sweet ^.^ oh and the part about carrying her on your back. That reminded me of PE a lot. My friend would always carry us (other friends) on his back and run around and stuff. It was soo fun. Especially because he was like really strong so you felt like you were flying.

Anyhoo, that's just a little story you just HAD to know, back to the poem.

My favorite lines were: She was real,
Nothing else existed,
It was all just matter…

I'm so friggin proud of you! It's sooo beautiful and honest and lovely and great and awesome!!! You did SUCH a good job. Major props to you! I have told all the puggles and kitties and puppies to stop the attack. This poem is your excuse for not updating ^.^

And what an excuse! HahAhHA!!! You left a smile on my face to start my sunday morning... i hate sundays hahahaha
Thankyou so much hugs and kisses. I am very pleased for the images created in your head and that guy in PE must have gotten a lot of attention hahaha.
Im so friggin bashful right now HhaHAhaHAhAhAH!!!!!

I have to finish the next chapter, i know. Its half way done, i even wrote on a whole page all the chapters and what will happen in each one unti it finishes. So the ending is set, so glad you want ot kep reading i feel like i will lose readers :(

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!!

A truly beautiful poem Lionheart. I don't know how you do it, lol. The whole bit was breathtaking. Brilliant!

Thanks as always!

Lionheart,

You had me hooked on this journey as well. Great imagery. I don't understand all of it, but I like a poem that leaves one guessing or interpreting in different ways. Well done!

Oh, and now I see where you got those challenge words that you sent me. Lets hope I can use them as well as you did. That will take a while -- maybe longer than it took for you to give them to me. LOL.
