Broken Promises
You promised me, you’d always be. . .
There when it mattered, our love will never be shattered
Yet today I sit by the phone, talking to myself and all alone
Frustrated because your call never comes.
You promised me I’d need no other. . .. . ..
Like a knight in shining armour, the perfect lover
Still tonight I wait with anticipation. . . . .
Hoping to see your face, but you still have not come.
You promised me you’d always be. . . .. .
The friend I have hoped for, a comfort to me.
But now in limbo I sit in a chair, waiting for the key to turn in the door.
It just has not happened, and now I fear. . . . ..
Your promise is a comfort to this fool.
Hot air!
