Dwell Here with Me

Poetry By: Mistress of Word Play

In the end there will be two. He and she in this new world.
A glimpse of a possible end and new beginning.

Dwell with me here in the ruins of this lost world.
Stay beside me as we bask in mankind's end.
Protected here by the wrecked monolith's shadow
safe among what they did not defend.
Walk with me across the desolation of that war
that took the hopes and dreams away.
We can speak of principalities and mistakes
made by the lost on that last day.
Dwell with me here upon the havoc man did reap
here in the ash of this forsaken city.
We can reminisce about how swiftly it ended
without remorse or misplaced pity.
There are no angry, hostile voices to pierce the air
all but we two have finally fled.
No laughter or singing to fill the empty void.
Man's hopes and dreams are now all dead.
Dwell here with me and help reignite the flame
which once so fiercely burned
before the time when corruption invaded
before the tide had turned.
Together we can find that sweet tranquility
which was lost along the way.
Dwell here with me and forget the horror
that occurred on that last day.
