We all remember the one that got away. Here is my one that got away.

As children we passed notes one to another
reveled in the wonder of our special love
and yet somehow tomorrow never came.

Years passed, they went by all too quickly.
Still, I remembered words once written
by the hand and your special name.

Seems we lost focus of the things we needed.
We let wants fill up our too busy lives
and now we look back and finally see.

Oh! Silly, foolish children what were we thinking
we cast off love we should have shared.
Now we mourn loves passing and the way it can never be.
