One Little Thought

For once in my life, I can honestly say,

Without a shadow of doubt in my mind.

That you are the one always in my brain,

And for you, I would leave my world behind.

I remember times when we laughed and cried,

Over silly things that meant almost nothing,

 From the time I first met you, I never felt shy,

And thought you and I had something.

So I tell you, I’m sorry, for the way things went,

For our saying goodbye, for our final adieu,

And I know I still feel how I did before,

My heart always beating for you.

But now you have someone new in your life,

Better than me, in every way,

Someone I hope never brings you strife,

Or brings you any pain.

As long as you’re happy, I promise you,

I could ask for nothing more,

But a little thought every now and then,

Of the girl you knew before.

But if you find you miss the days

When we were two hearts beating together,

You know I will be in our special place,

Where my love for you will last forever.
