A Wealth Of Smiles

I tell my friends my life is rich
with a new found wealth of smiles,
that if happiness was currency
I could buy the British Isles.

"But what about your broken heart?"
Like everything it mends,
her best friend turned to boyfriend,
I guess this is how it ends.

"But don't you worry, as you said,
joy, to you, is free."
"You'll be alright," that's what they say
as I smile and I agree.

The truth is that my heart went broke
one year ago tonight.
And still it's homeless, all alone, so
no, I won't be alright.
