Like The River
Love is like a river
giving life as it runs by,
reflections of the stars at night
give beauty to the sky,
love is like a lifeline
that'll save you from abuse,
it takes you by the hand to dance
for any old excuse,
love is like a dancefloor,
on which to dance we dare,
I hold you in my arms and whisper
something then a prayer.
But I'm dancing all alone
and I can't seem to find you there.
For love is like a dancefloor,
and all I clutch is air.
She pulled upon my heart strings
then she tied them in a noose.
For love is like a lifeline.
Now love's cutting me loose.
No reflection of the stars at night.
No beauty in the sky.
For love is like a river
and the river's running dry.
