Hesitate

We are standing in the dark
Under the white pearl light of the moon
I start to walk away,
But secretly
I’m waiting
You’re dazed,
Unaware that I was ever near you
Unconvinced that the grass beneath you,
Is still wet and slippery
From the falling rain
I won’t let the tears drop,
Though they threaten to imitate,
The water falling from the leaves
So pure and innocent
Though it’s not the same thing
I hold the pear in my hand
Like I held control to love
But even though the pear is ripe
I still hesitate to bite into it
For what could happen next?
The trees all seem the same
But your lone shadow stands out
I can see you
Though you can’t see me
It’s too dark where I’m standing
I want to turn back
And finally ask you
If you would be that person
To just hold me
Hold and never let go
Though I hesitate
Unsure of the outcome
Until I see the other shadow
A silhouette of a girl in your arms
I know it’s too late.
