A Thousand Miles

You were always a thousand miles away

But knowing you cared helped me through the fray.

And now you're gone.

And it's so much harder to go on.

Now I cry.

Broken to pieces inside.

You made me whole.

Then you made a hole.

You were my first love.

But you pushed me away with a shove.

But not before you pulled me close

And that's what still hurts the most.

I loved you more than anything.

Your beauty makes the angels sing.

But you built me up and threw me down.

In pools of tears I nearly drowned.

Day by day you led me on.

You made me just another pawn.

You made me think our love was true.

You made me think you loved me too.

Then you said, "let's just be friends."

No longer a love that would never end.

Why, O why would you let me believe?

That a girl like you would fall for me.

A thousand miles was always so far

But I loved you just for who you are.

Then you lied each night when you said,

"I love you too" before we went to bed.

I would have walked the entire way

If just to see you for one more day.

But that was before you made me pay

For my heart and soul that you threw away.
