The Song Bird
With the morning sunrise I sing with joy,
I ruffle my feathers,
And sing to you with all my heart.
We mate with true love,
We are partners forever.
Our children are born.
Foraging for food,
I take to the garden,
And birdseed puffs my red breast.
I return to the crying of our children.
Our children feed,
We sing to sunset,
We brush feathers and fall asleep.
