To my dearest love,
You were too far off
And the long stretches of the atmosphere
Served as a tall, black roadblock
The nights were long
The days- even longer
When you weren't with me,
It forced my mind to wander
Over and over,
I repeated in my head
While I was here dreaming,
SHE was in your arms, instead.
I told myself that wasn't true
That it was just a bad dream
A bit of innocent flirting,
Yet that was not what it seemed
Jealousy got the best of me,
Yanked me down and pulled me under
What seemed to be light rain,
Turned to violent, angry thunder
I broke it off
Our love, or lust
You had gained her interest
You had lost my trust
My jealous mind had been correct
To Unfaithfulness, guilty you pleaded
You got what you deserved
For I had been mistreated.
Now you left me out to dry
But you made me scared of love
A punishment you thought was fair
To my swift recovery, or lack thereof
Now I am broken
I forbid affection
I'll need someone else
For a moral correction
But to my love,
My dearest, or so previously addressed
I send my apologies
I wish you the best.
