Avery01's Hello Heartbreak contest entry

This is the story of how I ended up in the hospital for Prom.

I thought everything was fine. Jeremy was as cute as ever as he picked me up from my house. He had a rented tux that somehow fit over his burly, football player muscles, and he had also rented a white, stretch limo.

Knocking on the front door, I opened it to find him kneeling and presenting a white rose corsage to me. He placed it on my wrist and commented on how beautiful I looked. And I did look gorgeous. My blue ballgown fit perfectly over my cheerleader figure and my hair was done up in an extravagant braid/bun up-do.

I slid into the leather limo seats as Jeremy scooted next to me and started whispering in my ear how wonderful I was. I giggled every time he said something extremely nice. Then it was my turn and I told him how handsome he was. We continued this until we reached the houses of other popular kids who were joining us.

The cheer squad and football team gawked over Jeremy's magnificent limo and his even more magnificent money. Some of the other girls smiled and batted their eyes at him but I shut them up by giving Jeremy a long kiss.

It was amazing.

It's hard to believe that we broke up that very night.

The dance was slowing down and we broke up into groups to go to Trevor's (another sports guy) house for the after party. Needless to say, drinks were consumed and couples got together.

Jeremy was in his shorts, swimming in Trevor's Olympic sized pool. I was smart enough to have stashed a black bikini in my bag before leaving my house, so I slipped it on and dove in next to Jeremy.

We laughed and played and splashed around. I accidentally swallowed some pool water and got out to get some soda to clear my throat. II sipped on the can as I saw a gaggle of girls giggling and passing by. I overheard Jeremy's named mentioned and I also heard Jessika's name. Just to let you know, Jessika is a world renowned boy stealer.

I rushed over to the pool to see what I feared the most. Under the small waterfall, Jessika was hanging on Jeremy, and he was letting her. Then, she rose up and started kissing him with great passion.

I ran over to them on the side of the pool. I grabbed Jessika by the hair and ripped her off my soon-to-be ex boyfriend.

“What the (insert curse word of you choice here) were you just doing?!”

Jeremy tried to come up with an excuse, but I was over it. I screamed at him some more and slapped him across the face. I felt tears sliding down my face and wiped them away with the heel of my hand. I stepped on Jeremy's foot with my heel then turned to flee.

You know that rule to never run around a pool? I didn't remember that one.

I ran but my feet slipped out from under me. I hit my head against the edge of the pool and heard a small crack in the back of my head.

Then I was falling, falling, falling, into the water. My head burned and the water around my turned a thin red color. The last thing I saw before passing out was Jessika's smug face as she hung on Jeremy's neck.
