"Erin" I heard my boss in his office. His voice wasn't as horrific as usual.
I stood up from my seat to join him in his office "Yes boss?" He had a stack full of papers on the left side of his desk "Is that for me?" I asked.
"Sadly, no" he smirked and sighed "I have a mandatory request."
"Then it is not a request sir" I informed him.
"Being sly is a pain in the ass Miss Fli-"
"What is it boss?" I asked him. He gave me a letter and said in a low tone "You are going to a ball with me. Its a social gathering for the companies. Assistants have no choice but go."
You make it sound like a punishment Seth "Yes si-"
"There are rules" His gray eyes darkened "You, for the love of God Erin. For once do not wear a shapeless dress around me!"
I looked at him stunned. I wore dresses that were ankle length, and shapeless. They looked like what grandma's would wear. But i can't help it, My budget is tight. My hair would be in a low bun, my chin length hair would get in my face easily if i didn't.
Blushing, I stuttered "Wh-"
"Aren't you 23?" He asked me in slight irritation "Why do you dress as if you have no sex appeal!"
I said hoarsely "I...I can't afford such luxur-"
"Then I'll buy it," He cut me off again "I can't let you be seen like that there!"
Looking at each other ,we both didn't speak for a while. The silence made the last thing he said simmer in my mind, I bit my lower lip. I bit it to stop myself from blushing of the excitement of the idea of even the slightest bit he thought of me.
But he didn't look at me "What I mean..." He began. The tips of his ears were red. "This is not just an ordinary occasion. Got that?"
"Don't ever call me sir or boss" He said curtly. I questioned
"Goddamnit Erin! Don't make me repeat myself!" He bellowed furiously. He looked flustered and I wanted to scream of my curiosity of what he was saying.
"Yes..." I replied and he looked at me "Seth"
We stared at each other in silence. Then he cleared his throat "I'll give you the dress sometimes this week." He started cleaning his desk, and that was my signal.
I left the room.
