it was raining the night you told me you loved me, do you remember? we had gone to the cinema to wtch some film about an alien invasion. to tell the truth i only agreeded to it because it made you happy. i can't remember much of the plot- i spent the whole time watching you. i loved to see your mahogany eyes widen with excitement or twinkle with laughter. i loved to watch you run your hand through your silky black hair without thinking about it.

by the time it had finished, the rain was pouring down as we hurried to shelter on the other side of the street. i stood with my back against the wall with you facing me, just out of reach of the rain. you told me how pretty i was and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. i was rooted to the spot. then you gazed into my eyes for what seemed like eternity and told me you loved me before kissing me in a way that makes my heart skip a beat.

that was the first thing that entered my mind as i heard the rain drumming of the pavement tonight. i channel out the sounds of passing cars and people all around me. i can't remember how i got here but i don't care. the rain is too beautiful for anything to bother me right now. my lips slightly parted, as if awaiting your kiss. small, shuddering breaths escape them. i blink and each time it becomes harder to open my eyes again. but i have to stay awake, at least until you get here.

it was raining the night you told me you loved me, do you remember? and its raining now, as your face comes into focus above me. you're panting like you ran here and your mahogany eyes are shadowed with pain. you run your hand threw your black silky hair. i try to reach an arm but i can't move. i want to ask whats wrong but something at the back of my mind tells me i already know. cinema tickets. i was waiting. then a flash of a gun. an ear-splitting sound. a scream. my scream.

i tried to speak but i choke up blood instead. you rock me back and fourth telling me everythings going to be ok. but its too late that. theres a hole in my chest- but its far away frome my heart, but thats missing to. it shattered into a million pieces the moment i saw you. i remember the night you told me you loved me, let the memory consume me as i close my eyes and smile. i held on until you got here but its too late now.

as i take one last breath, i go back to that time when we stood in this very spot, where the rain danced around us, and wait by the wall for the day you will join me once again.
