Sarah waited for the meeting to be over so she can have a chance to talk to her boss, Mr. Anthony. When everyone was out of the room, she stood up and went to Mr. Anthony who was putting his papers in his briefcase. Mr. Anthony was fifty-one but looked ten years younger. He was an elegant, charming, sanguine man with almond-shaped brown eyes and his silky, straight, chocolate-colored hair was brushed back in an elegant style. He is short and has a feminine build and his skin is cream-colored. His wardrobe is plain and businesslike, with a mostly gray and blue color scheme.
Sarah stood their staring into his eyes waiting until he made contact with her. She smiled and cleared her throat. “Hello Sarah. I didn’t see you here. Is there something that I may help you with?” asked Mr. Anthony closing his briefcase. Sarah just stared at him and then said shaking her head, “N-never mind. I was just leaving.”
Mr. Anthony nodded as Sarah headed out the door feeling stupid for not telling him. She headed to the woman’s room to freshen up. She looked at herself in the mirror while putting on lipstick and fixing her hair. “Get a grip Sarah,” she sighed. “Get a grip. I can do this. All I have to say is ‘I like you.’ How hard is that?”
Sarah let out a sigh and exited the bathroom. She saw Mr. Anthony coming out of his office. She went towards him smiling and showing him eye contact. “Mr. Anthony, I need to speak to you.”
Mr. Anthony stopped in his tracks and stared up at Sarah, “Yes?”
“Well,” started Sarah clearing her throat. “I know that you’re my boss and that we’ve been really good friends.”
Mr. Anthony nodded and waited for her to continue.
“I really love our friendship, but I was wondering if you want to try something, more...?" Sarah couldn’t fit the words right to the end of her sentence. Mr. Anthony looked down at his briefcase and then back at Sarah, “I don’t want to hurt your feelings…, but…I’m just not interested in you. I’m in love with Elizabeth. I’m sorry Sarah.”
Mr. Anthony shrugged and walked right passed Sarah. Sarah looked at the ground where Mr. Anthony was standing.
Elizabeth? He likes Elizabeth? The Elizabeth with the gap between her teeth and a wart on her nose? What does he see in her? I’m more attractive…I don’t get it. How can he like her over me? Sarah headed back into the bathroom before someone thought she was crazy. She looked at herself in the mirror and checked her look. I am attractive. I am beautiful. Sarah nodded. I have to do something to get Elizabeth out of his mind. He needs to like me. Not her…but…what do I do to make him forget her and like me?
