Ryan M. Akers Biography
 

Ryan M. Akers was born on April 30, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois. At the tender age of 12, he completed his first novel and subsequently won his first writing contest for Reader’s Digest. He graduated from Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana and attended Indiana University, graduating in 1995 with two degrees: a B.A. in English and B.A. in History. He sold his first short story soon after graduation.

Throughout a career spanning positions in television production and pharmaceutical marketing communications, Ryan continued writing fiction, poetry, scripts and social commentary. Although he has penned three novels, Ryan has not published any yet. However, he has excelled writing verse and published/won contests for over 60 poems. 

Personal accolades associated with writing include winning over 20 film/video production awards including Emmys, Tellys, Videographer, GEM nonprofit, Chicago Comedy Film Festival, and Heartland Film Festival. 

Ryan considers himself a “memory fool” and seeks eccentric experience as the basis for his fiction, poetry and memoirs. Since 1985, he has diligently kept a daily journal and writes at least 2 hours each day. 

Ryan currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoys movies, film making, camping, fishing, reading, and being an insomniac social butterfly.
