The ground is rocky and uneven which makes it harder for us to run and my father isn’t as young as he used to be. He keeps stumbling which slows us down. My father’s hand slips out of mine. “Keep running,” he says. But I don’t. I turn to see if he’s okay but he’s gone and so have the lasers. He was dead. The lasers got him. My father’s gone and I am alone in the Wild. That is the end of an old story and the beginning of a new one…
