SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

“FUNDAMENTALLY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS A MOTION OF DISCIPLINE; IT MEANS HUMANITY MUST ENSURE THAT MEETING OF PRESENT NEEDS DOES NOT COMPROMISE THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATION TO MEET THEIR NEEDS” - GRO HARLEM BRUDTLAND.

What is the essence of present merriment at the expense of future livelihood? I believe it is vanity. All stories with fruitful ending dwells more in our memory than those filled with tears and disaster, since there is no joy in remembering a past whose existence doesn’t affect the present positively.

“God bless mother nature” our usual prayer, which will always be mere words murmured out of an ingrate’s mouth, light as air, if reasonable measures are not taken to conserve her provisions for us. We should meet present ecological, societal and economical needs without compromising these factors for future generation

The greatest investment a nation can put all into with a reasonable hope of profit revolves around the concept under discussion, sustainable development, having it in mind that no good thing come in the easy way. Sacrifices has to be made if we are to move forward, we have to pay our quota if we want to represented well by our future

My spirit always rejoice, a melody do pop up in my heart whenever I see different inventions or hear about them on media. Many of which are based on a particular natural resources, one key provision by Mother Nature. My heart do pause when I think about the future, and a question is always being forged in my cerebrum due to human’s nonchalant attitude toward the existence of these resources we all live on.

“What if the resources are no more?” Are we going to be driven into extinction by hunger or by our mumbo jumbo quest for answers to our self-inflicted pain, since all we depend on directly or indirectly are these materials.
