Jazmine leaned closer, her hand reaching out to me. I took it.
“You’re right,” I said. “The instinct to procreate is a fundamental characteristic of living organisms. As you climb the evolutionary ladder, however, behavioral patterns become, shall we say, more complex than they used to be.”
“But the biological urges do not die,” said she.
“Indeed. They can be attenuated though, as the Iron Rose Thorns well know.
“Yet you are different.”
I realized that I was standing on thin ice.
“The evolutionary imperatives are not static. Beyond sex…”
“Lies what?…Show me again,” she said, gripping my fingers.
