“I don’t understand,” said Jazmine.  “What does territoriality have to do with love.”

I liked the way the tip of her tongue stuck out between her teeth when she said ‘love’.

“Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.”

She closed her eyes.  “The theory has been debunked.”

“Modified.  The development of individuals still mirrors the development of species.”

“But humans have gained genetic control,” she said.  “Evolution is no longer relevant.”

“The genetic blueprint still is.”

“You make it sound like humans are mere biological machines.”

“Is that not reason enough to seek answers about who we really are.”

“Perhaps. Please go on.”
