I was in the woods near my boarding school, it was night time. Three kids, one a little girl, another a teen girl, and the last a teen boy. They were sitting in a clearing but they obviously could'nt see me. They were talking. "--- I think she has real potential." The boy said. "Who is she?" the little girl asked. "She doesn't look like any of them but yet she has the same aura as us." Said the older girl. Are they talking about me? And what did she mean about aura? And who don't I look like? "We need to find her." The boy said again. "Yes but how? Her scent is something I've never smelled before. "The older girl said. "I think I---" The little girl started.
scene changed. I was still in the woods but in a tree. I slowed
my breathing and stayed perfectly still. Apparently the three
were looking for me because one, the younger girl, looked up into
my tree. "Hey guys there she---"
I woke with a start, banging my head on the ceiling. "Are you okay up there?" My room mate, Lisa, aksed from the bottom bunk of the bunkbed we shared in the girl's room. "Yeah, bad dream." I said rolling onto my stomach, looking at the picture of a boy I had drew that I always kept on my pillow. I quickly fell asleep.
I awoke the next morning to my other room mate Rianna. "Ooh who's this?" She asked yanking my picture off of my pillow. "No one." I answered snatching it back and stuffing it under my pillow. I got out of bed to get ready. Just a typical day at school, or so I thought then.
I got my clothes and toiletries and
headed over to the bathroom we shared with the boys next door,
Keith, Daniel, Sam, and Stephen. I got dressed and brushed my teeth. Then I
brushed and straightened my hair before walking out to meet my
friends to go to breakfast. They are all two years older than me
because I went into first grade when I was five and then I
skipped third and fifth grade and came right to sixth grade this
year. That would make me eight and my friends all
We sat at our group's table as the waitresses brought out platters of food and every one dug in. Keith, Daniel, Sam, Stephen, Lisa, Rianna and I headed off to first period, English. The day went by pretty well, at least until dance class.
I was paired with Keith, who I admit is kinda cute, even though he's gay and going out with Daniel. We were practicing for a scene in a play we were doing. I twirled, jumped and Keith lifted me up. When he put me down another girl and I were a little too close on our pirouettes and we collided.
"HEY!" She yelled at me as her image began to shimmer and shift. Suddenlty instead of a girl in a leotard, a pale girl with red eyes, flaming hair, and one bronze leg one donkey leg was standing in front of me. "I always new you were different but I did't expect this." The girl hissed like she had just seen me clearly for the first time.
I felt something heavy drop into my pocket. I reached down and pulled out an ipod. I scrolled down to sword and clicked it. Immediately the ipod grew longer and heavier. It was a sword, brownish and silver, bronze and steel I realized. I slashed out at the girl. She stepped out of the way but I struck again. My sword struck her neck and the girl dissolved into yellow powder.
"Miss Paige what have you done?" The teacher asked. I didn't have an answer so I just stood there. "Run!" Lisa murmured out of the corner of her mouth.
I ran towards the back window preparing to jump. I busted through the window and landed two stories below. I kept running, into the woods. I ran deeper and deeper into the woods, until I was sure they wouldn't find me. I climbed a tree to get a better view. Soon I saw my friends walking around the grounds accompianied by a chorus of "Rhia where are you?"
Soon it got dark and I climbed just
a little lower in my tree, waiting till morning to leave. I saw a
red light coming from deeper in the forest along with familiar a
familiar voice. I realized it as the boy from my dream. "That
girl I dreamt about---" He started but I fell asleep. I caught
the end of a sentence sometime later. "--- know where to find
her." The little girl said before I drifted back to
The next morning I woke to a rustling of leaves from below and the tweet of a bird. It was those kids again. "---Is. Up in that tree." The littlest one said pointing straight at me.
