Prologue
The static in between the clicks coming from the receiver filled the metallic room. Startled, the only person in the room turned towards the transmitter’s database and watched as it slowly printed out words. With trembling hands, the professor reached out to help the paper run from the machine to the desk below it.
Although this wasn’t the first time contact had been made, it still excited the man to receive the messages that came from space. More clicks and whirring noises came from the tired machines as more was decoded and printed on the thin paper. The professor pushed up the glasses on his nose and read what he could of the decryptions.
WE COME TO YOU WITH LOVE AND PURPOSE…WE EXIST WITHIN ANOTHER DIMENSION…REALIZE THE DIVINE NATURE OF YOURSELF…the professor groaned in frustration as the machines continued to stall, as if thinking, and then finally, the machines went silent and the last of the paper was ejected. The man eagerly reread the first line and continued until he finished.
BREAK FREE OF THE MENTAL PRISON…WE ARE ALREADY ON YOUR PLANET…MORE ARE ON THEIR WAY…
“That’s all?!” the professor nearly howled with a mixture of delight and frustration. His warm brown eyes flitted to the analog clock and his fears were confirmed, it was too late to send a reply. Once the Earth rotated past the nexus of the star cluster, the transmitter couldn’t pick up the broadcast of strange vibrations. He would have to wait twenty-two hours until the connection could be reestablished.
