Everything was going good with me for so far, but I had school tomorrow, and that was a problem.

So far everything had been going fine for me, and that was a first, but tomorrow I had to go to school, and obviously that spelled trouble, my education was amazing in Arizona, but now I had to repeat some of high school to help the knowledge that I neglected for so long.

Little did I know…this place, this forsaken place, was going to be the start of one of mans worst, most painful, and most complicated diseases in history. The Kalecrostatic.

That morning was cool, and a cold rain was expected that evening. I got dressed wearing a fitting dark black shirt with black arm warmers and gray cargo pants. I left my hair down, al of it draping over my shoulder nearly hiding the silver obsidian medallion strung from my neck. I didn’t bother taking my back with me, and I was proud I didn’t considering a group of black clothed students were waiting at the school doors.

“Who are you, a new kid?” One tall one said, black hair covering some of his eyes.

I growled back at him impatiently “Yes, now can you move, I’m going to be late?” He didn’t move from his position in front of the doors, and the others behind him seemed to laugh under their breath as he reassured me of their humor “She’s very rude isn’t she boys?” I gave them a dark stare, and they stopped laughing.

“Let me through, I’m not in the mood to deal with you thugs.” I said harshly. The first one moved away from the doors the others blocking my way as he circled me slowly “It’s good the new girl inst another one of those ugly snakes on the school ground.” He said ignoring me. Then he laughed one of his friends responding to him “Yeah man, but she’s still a snake.” I closed my eyes, breathing in for a second “Let me through the freakin door or all of you are done for.” I whispered irritably. The one behind me spoke back to the other ones putting his hand on my shoulder “Maybe I should keep this one…I might not find another like it.” My eyes snapped open “quit ignoring me you idiot!” Suddenly I spun sideways swinging my leg up so that it would come down over his shoulder. He caught it easily “Wow…what a temperament.” I hissed at him sarcastically, not taking another second before twisting my leg in his grip and aiming my elbow for his stomach. I felt him block that too but that didn’t stop me. I jerked my elbow from his hand jumped down, swinging my leg under his feet to trip him, and when he jumped up, I immediately changed the direction of my leg and nailed him in the chin.

He fell back rubbing his chin “Heh, a pretty good fighter too…” He now turned his attention completely on me “You here for a while with your parents?” I paused for a moment, and answered walking past him to the door, that the others had surprisingly blocked “I live here, and I don’t have any family.” I said coldly, but just as I passed him, I felt his hand reach out and grab my wrist “Perfect then…” I looked down at him a little surprised at what he said next “You want to join us then?” He said pulling himself back up to his feet. I sat there for a moment, before pulling at his hand, it didn’t move “I would rather not be in a gang, much less yours.” He smiled at me “As harsh as ever…what are you doing here anyway?” He said changing the subject as he let go of my wrist “I used to live here…” He smiled in a warm way, which really threw me off “Then what’s your name?” I hesitated, my voice still cold “Rem.” He grabbed my hand “Come on then, ill show you the school.” The other people laughed as he jerked me into the building “Wait what are you doing!? Why were they laughing!?” He glanced back at her “Don’t worry I’m just going to show you around, I’m actually not a suspicious person, the fact that I wear all black is just a symbolism to which gang I’m in.”

“They really don’t care who knows if their in a gang or not do they…the police must not be very strict here.”

“Yeah you’re right, we have our pride.” I looked up at him “How did you hear me?”

“What?”

“I whispered that.”

“Oh…um…I still heard ya.”

“Ok…”

I looked down for a moment as he stopped in front of a door “Hey by the way my name’s Rasheem…I’m fifth in command…well I guess you could say that.” I glared up at him as he opened the door, but of course I was taken of guard by what I saw next.  The room was full of a group of students all of them wearing a dark black, one teacher that was pretty much scared to death, sitting at a front desk.

As he entered the students lined up against some of the walls, others standing from their seats, but it still wasn’t organized at all. “Hey Rasheem, hurry up and sit down!” He smiled, and led me over to the back corner, sitting down on a large desk, me sitting beside of him “Tour of the school, alright.” I hissed. He chuckled “Don’t worry once you know these people you wont need a tour, and the teachers usually don’t teach when our group borrows the classroom.” I growled “So school is actually a time for gang meetings?!” He glanced around the room, the students were talking and laughing “Yeah I guess, but we aren’t always considered a gang, we do a few things every once and a while, and we all usually hang out with people in our “gang” but killings aren’t that common.” I also followed his gaze around the room “So if this gang really isn’t that bad, then why is the teacher so scared?” I said glancing over at the shaking ball of fear in the back “Oh, it’s not us she’s scarred of…its our leader, he’s the once who gives us our reputation.”

“So he would be first in command?”

“Yeah just like I’m the fifth…it only goes to fifth though, the others are just members.”

“What gang is this anyway?”

“Ah, that…” He chuckled “I believe you’ve heard of the Street Wraiths.” I stood up “No…there is no way I’m getting into this one no way!” He stood up beside me “Hey don’t jump to conclusions.”

“conclusions, the Street Wraiths are said to get into conflict with the government, and the police! They are the worst!”

“Wait Rem, just listen, I’m telling you it isn’t that bad!”

I growled walking away from his irritably, of course the worst case scenario. He tried to follow me as first but I was quick to the door, and instantly opened and stepped through it without a second thought. Soon I was in the hall, and Rasheem was quick after me “Wait Rem!” He put his hand on my shoulder, and I grabbed it turning around, and throwing it of me. That’s were the problem began. Along with his hand I had accidentally ripped of a bandage, that he had covered it with.

I gasped, as he stood there frozen holding, what looked like a lions paw. “W-what?” He whispered in horror “Now…you have to join.” I took a step back, and he reached his hand out to stop me, but I shot backwards running towards the door. I heard him shout behind, and I knew he was running to but I just continued to whisper to myself. “That wasn’t real, that was fake, that had to be” I stopped myself “Ah! what have I gotten myself into now!?” The doors swung as I ran through them, Rasheem catching up, but now he was shouting something different, it was like a loud roar, he only did it once, at least that’s all I heard before I was jerked into a passing alley.

I winced as my back was slammed up against a brick wall, my eyes opening to see another darkly clothed figure, another one in their gang. I talked between each heavy breath “Let go of me!” He had one arm on each of my shoulders. “Calm down…and quiet yourself.” They responded coldly, a voice that was even more venomous than my own. I growled back angrily “I said let go.” I struggled in his grip but it only got tighter, until I was gripping his arms with my hands. “I’m not joining the gang.” I said sternly. Still struggling “If you continue to struggle I’m going to have to make you stop…” He growled in his same voice. I snapped back “If I calm down your just going to take me ba” Suddenly he cut me off sealing my lips with his. I ceased my struggle for a moment, I could feel my hands automatically loosen on his arms, I would have kept fighting but it was just the way he kissed me. It was the way that he kissed me that trapped me. I didn’t even know him, and I found myself dying to kiss back. I cursed once to myself, and pulled back a little, jerking away from his grip and sliding a bit down the alley to where I could face him. I knew he had tried to suffocate me, and that was probrably the less painful way of being captured, but I was never one for the easy way out now was I?
